It doesn't really matter. As long as whatever you pick fits into your target calories, have at it.

If you have something really salty right before bed, you might have excess retained water the next morning. But it's water weight, not fat, so as long as the potential jump on the scale doesn't bother you, there's no harm in it.

I'm an evening snacker, so I save up calories for evening snacks. Fruit, popcorn, veggies, peanut butter on a tortilla, chocolate, pork tenderloin - whatever's around, sounds yummy, and fits into my goals for the day.

Peanut butter on a tortilla is SO good, and if you put a banana in there, you're setfor life haha.

I stick to fruit late at night. Sometimes I like having some toast because i've been doing it for so long, but I don't do the late night eating much anymore.

Well, alright. I dont think I could do that peanut butter thing, since that would take me over my 600 calories a day

    600 calories?!?!?!?!!?

    Are you 4foot5, 80 pounds?!!?

Please post your stats (height, weight, age, sex). 600 calories is MUCH too low, you cannot successfully lose weight and keep it off with that amount of calories! Once we know your stats we can accurately figure out how many calories you need to consume to promote a healthy weight loss. For me personally, I am 17/male/6'0/200 pounds, and although I measure my intake by another system, I consume roughly 1600-1800 calories a day, and lose roughly 2 pounds a week.

The problem with eating 600 calories is the simple question of: "Once you lose your weight, can you invision yourself eating a HEALTHY lifestyle, consuming all the nutrients your body needs daily without gaining it back?" It just doesn't make sense to eat that few of calories:

-It doesn't "speed up" weight loss
-It isn't healthy, due to lack of nutrients and energy
-It will NEVER ever work long term. It is comparable to one of those "Get rich quick"/pyramid money schemes in every sense of the word.

So post your stats and educated ones (I am not educated as much as others, by far) will be around to help you out!

VLCD diets can be dangerous to your body! You need to eat at least 1,200 calories a day to prevent starvation.

What kind of food are you eating?

I totally second this post. Ive alwys been an evening snacker, ill have 300 for breaky, 300 for lunch, then eat 1000 for dinner and after dinner. Though recently my body has changed and now im suddenly hungry in the morning and have swapped that around (weird getting used to that too).

Oh and you cant live on 600 calories a day, thats just suicidal. try eating at least 1500-2000 , you will still loose weight but you wont die

I am 17 Years old, 5'8, and weight 150. Well, technically I eat 900 calories a day but I workout which how much I workout and do what I do ends up being about 600 calories. Thats only usually 4 days a week. The thing is my parents were telling me I should eat more but ive been eating like this for a while and now im not that hungry during the day.

I don't buy the 'no carbs after ?pm'

If you consume less calories than your body uses, you will lose weight. Whether you have carbs, protein, fat or whatever at night..

Thats what I was wondering... that crap about no carbs, calories, etc. at night or it can make you gain weight. I read things saying that kinda stuff, but I would rather come to people thats actually been fat than to people that just post random things on blogs, etc to make money.

Okay without the work outs you would be needing about 2500 calories to just maintain your weight. Anorexics eat about 300-800 calories, not growing teenagers! If i were you i would eat about 2000 calories MINIMUM every day. And thats gonna make you loose weight still! Try throwing in some peanut butter or good oils if you're not hungry. I wouldnt have said you were overweight anyway, you should probably look into bulking up and gaining muscle rather than weight loss.
But in all seriousness, you may want to talk to Steve (on this forum) who does body building and knows a lot more than I about it.

Seriously, stop starving yourself, the only thing you are gonna loose is your life

You definitely should listen mate. I have no doubts you could consume that few of calories and not feel hungry if you eat right, but thats not the issue. You are putting your body in starvation mode and it is not healthy. Nearly everyone who has posted so far is in agreement, 900 is MUCH too low.

Take some time to read the articles found HERE. They will teach you everything you need to know!

You can't consume that few of calories and expect to keep the weight off and, more importantly, live a healthy lifestyle. Ask yourself what is more important - your health or the number on the scale?

If you are like everyone else, you probably want to lose weight so you can look at yourself in the mirror and be satisifed with a fit, healthy body - not be overly affected by your weight. It is infinitely more important that you eat a healthy diet instead of crashing on a ultra-low calorie diet which won't give you the satisfaction of reaching your long-term goals.

I'll say it again, I eat roughly 1800 calories a day and lose 2 pounds a week, the reccomended maximum. Read the articles in that link I gave you and you can figure out how many you need.

I dont mean to be rude, but are you anorexic? I cant imagine how you're not hungry and I dont believe that's the reason you're not eating.
