From what I've read of vitamin-taking... there's really no best time to take them - as long as you take them consistently at the same time -and it's best taken with food.
If taking them at night - has a good effect on you -then go with it...
I've heard that it's best to cut your multi-vitamin in half and take one half in the morning and the other in the evening. You get your full vitamin for the day, but it's effects are spread out over a greater time period than if you took it all at once.
a few hours before you work out with a meal with some fats.
and by fats i dont mean french frys, i mean like baked fish
