I am not sure if this applies to everyone, but if you are in a hurry and do not have time to calculate your BMI (or if you do not have a calculator handy and do not want to struggle with doing the math in your head,) you can take your weight and multiply it by 10, and that will be roughly how many calories you need per day. Example, I weigh 152 lbs; my calculated BMI is 1495... if I take the "hurried" route, my caloric intake should be about 1500, so it's very close. Like I said, I haven't done the math to see if this would work for everyone. Keep up the good work, though, everyone on this site!
Hi there... when I read your post, it made me think of what I've been going through. Currently I am "training" for a 60 mile walk, and I walk six days per week. On average I walk 7 miles per day at this point. Today I am up to 10 miles (but just once a week). Generally, my calories are about 1200 per day. A calorie count website I belong to suggests 1450 cals per day. I have lost 16 lbs... but it's been yo-yo... down to 16, then up 4, then down 2. I am very frustrated. I think the weight should be just "falling off" at this point since I walk so much. I also lap swim two nights a week for about 45 minutes. Is it possible to exercise too much? or am I eating too little? I started out at 198 lbs, and am down to 184. My goal is 155. I am 5'9", and 39 yrs old. (enough specs?) Seems like I plateau more than I lose! I've been at 184 (+/-) for 2 weeks. What can I do to make my exercise and eating more "weight loss effective"?
frustrated...
Eat more healthy calories. I am 5'9", 33 years old, and just safely under 200 now. I am losing weight on 2400-2600 cals with no problem. I always like to point out that simple fact handed to me by an RN some time back-come patients get 1200 calories a day. You in a coma or are you moving around and burning even more energy?
BTW, you didn't read the posts too well, this thread was over a year old when you necroed it.
