Rep Power: 0 | | Losing loose ab skin I 'm delighted to have lost 18 LBs in a year. A nice, gradual weightloss, and a good daily exercise routine supplemented by two good, brisk, two mile walks with the dog...BUT.....
While my clothes sizes have decreased nicely, when the clothes are off, a horrible, saggy bunch of loose, wrinkly skin is revealed around the ab area.....
Among other things, I do 80 crunches daily and have just begun the ab tightening exercise of lying on your back, knees raised and then sucking it all down toward the floor and holding it for 10 seconds...
Is there anything else I can do? I really hate that sloppy skin and it means no bikinis for Weezy until it goes.
Cheers

Rep Power: 0 | | | you could try brushing the skin - maybe start during your shower or just after. It gets the circulation going and I read somewhere - no own experience, sorry - that it works really well. I'll try to find out, where I read it, but no promises - I don't have a lot of free time...

Rep Power: 95 | | Somewhere I read that you can use bodywraps as well, but same here - no own experience in this area. My skin is all nicely filled out I wish it wasn't. I'll get there - you'll see.

Rep Power: 0 | | Thanks to all for suggestions I will try everything - 'course, the faster way would be a quick visit to the surgeon, but I don't think I'm ready for that
I have also been giving that section additional moisturising. There is a great beeswax cream that I found and I use that.
Lisa, nicely filled out is much nicer looking that loose and flabby...
Going to listen to a blues band tonite, you all have a great weekend...

Rep Power: 0 | | Help for Toning Skin Does anyone know of a way to increase my skin tone. I'm 49. Been heavy most of my life. Started at 225 down to 160. Loose, jiggly skin. I exercise. I walk, I have a periodic massage. Anything else that has worked for anyone? I'd appreciate any help you've got here. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Wow, 65 pounds! How fast did you lose it? Unfortunately skin loses so much elasicity after 30 that most people past 30 have to go for the tuck. Hopefully someone will have something better for you, but I just wanted to say GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rep Power: 0 | | | That is amazing! Congratulations, again. And if you do find an answer that works, please let us know. A few of us around here are past the age of elastic skin. It's something that I'm very concerned about.

Rep Power: 7612 | | wow you lost it quick! congrats
unfortunately i think nothing is going to help that jiggly skin.
tanning has helped hide some of my stretch marks and i have heard that dove firming lotion has worked for some if you use it everyday twice a day. but it probably will only work on certain areas of your body.

Rep Power: 0 | | | Congrats on your loss!!! That's just wonderfull!
For the jiggles ... i asked my dermatologist .. and she said non of the cremes really work.. You either have it or you don't. Just a good hydrating lotion. Don't spend for cremes.

Rep Power: 0 | | | Question about a prolly tired subject ( skin shrinkage ) Hi all, sorry Im new so dont yell at me to much. I did a search ( prolly not the best ) and couldnt find what I was looking for, so I thought Id ask. Heres a brief history on what been going on with me.
Always lifted weights from HS on ( periods of time, but never consistently ). Junior year was 225, Senior year 250 and it slowly got worse. At one point I hit 273 and said thats it, and I dieted, trained etc.. I went down to 232 ( this was in 92 ( this weight lasted fr a ski trip I went on and that was about it ). Since then I put the weight back and maintained it at 275 till about 4 years ago. I ballooned up to 313 AHHHHHH ( damn pizza place I worked at ). I met a girl ( online, and she knew my weight ) amd wanting to change for her, I dropped to 280 in about 4 months. We stayed together for 2 years and it ended. By the time she left I was back up to 300. Ok 2005, I said to myself, Im getting older, Im single and want kids, so I better do something about it ( meaning the weight loss ) so I started to diet again, but this time it was different. I never was a big eater, just a huge soda fein ( easily a case a day ), so I just eat healthier and dropped soda and water is my friend ( I love you Aquafina ) and it has dropped my weight for the starting year of 2006 to ...... 238 Yea me, wooooo hold on, this is where my question comes in.
Back for the ski trip when I lost the 40 lbs, my skin was fine no sagginess no nothing ( which I understand, I was younger ) but now after losing the 62 I noticed my skin to be ummm lets call it alil more excessive than I would like. Its not tight ( ok, Im older now, the skin shrinake is gonna be at a slower rate ). My question... How slow????? I have set a goal to be at no particular weight, but just fit into a pair of 36 size jeans, with some nice abs ( see Im lifting again, so thats why I say no particular weight, but I would love to see like 180 and then like 45lbs of pure muscle ). Since the new year everything is a bit more giggly and yes I am a guy and self concious, but I dont take my shirt off anymore ( at 313 I had no problems cause it was all tight, I accepted it ). My weight has gone up to 242 cause Im afraid to lose anymore weight cause I dont want the saggy skin ( anyone catch that episode of Dr. Phil ( I was home on a rain day and was flipping the channels ) with that girl that regretted losing the weight??? Thats becoming me ). At my age, 34, how long will it take for the skin to reform? Should I stop losing weight, wait for the skin to shrink to where Im at now and then start again? Surgury is not an option cause I will not have any scars, Id rather be fat, sorry. SO can anyone offer any help, suggestions, reassurance, anything????
Oh my stats, Im 6'0 with wide shoulders. Heres a photo of me from the chest up ( sorry to new to show off my belly, which is were resides the 60 lbs of soda ) so you can see that most of the weight is in my belly and get an idea of my frame size....
PS, really sorry for going on like that for just a simple question. Photo1 Photo2

Rep Power: 7612 | | | i REALLY hate to be a downer, but i'm going to give you my honest opinion from experience even though i'm female and your male. it might be different for guys but since your weight was so high, you will probably end up with the excess skin that only surgery can fix. my highest was 210 from 2 back to back pregnancies one of which was twins so my belly was streched pretty far. i am also pretty close to your age (i'm 34) and now that i have rid myself of the unwanted pounds in a period of about 18 months-2 yrs, the lower abs arent looking too good. i guess it depends on what you want, like if you want to be able to wear half shirts then it will probably be impossible without surgery to remove the extra skin.

Rep Power: 0 | | Hey WW thx for the reply. I dont know about half shirts, but no shirts is a yes. Hmmm when were talking about surgury, were talking about the same scars left behind as would be from say having lipo sculpture done? So pretty much ( and I know your honest opinion experience ) no matter what I do, train like Swarzenegger for his body, Ill prolly be left with excess skin?
Any idea on what surgury runs? I know some time ago I went in for lipo sculpture and it was like 4000, but I opted out cuz of the huge scars left behind, but if getting the excess skin removed is anywhere close to that, I might as well just get the sculpture done or stay fat |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Hi, I know where your at. One of my biggest fears is the excess skin. And to be totaly honnest was one of the reasons I kept puting off losing the weight. I have seen all those surgery shows where they have all the excess skin left over and it scares me. Like you said when your big its tight, so it makes you think, as there is no way I would ever be able to afford surgery.
But when I comes down to it its not about that. Being fat is not really an option, excess skin or not. Please dont be put off getting to your goals becaue of it. I have tried to put it out of my mind because its about being healthy, and even if your fat so your skin is tight, you put your self at risk for heart attacks and many other problems.
A diet I was trying last year called sure slim, has people losing big amounts of weight quickly(its extremely strict) but they said to avoid the lose skin we had to eat a heap of these seeds, it was about 1tablespoons of pumpkin seeds, 2 of linseeds, 1 sunflower, and 2 of seaseme seeds. they said that these seeds had tissue healing properties in them and helped your skin to bounce back. Now I didnt mangage to stick out the diet so I cant tell you if its true or not but I have heard other people say the same things and when you look at the fact sheets for the seeds they do say tissue repair. either way I am still eating them on my diet now because it cant hurt as they are good for you all round. Wishing you the best of luck

Rep Power: 0 | | | Hi Zoila, thx for the reply. Yea I dunno, this is gonna sound wrong , but as far as health issues are concerned, they are not on my priority list. Im not thrilled with myself now ( but accept it ) and Im not gonna be any where near happier when the weight is gone but there is excess skin, screw health issues...
Those amounts of seeds you have to eat, is that on a daily basis? Which is no problem, cause I could just sub those in, inplace of the gum I now chew from quiting smoking. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
