Rep Power: 0 | | Eating breakfast is definately something to get used to! If I had a couple of hours to kill, no problem eating a big breakfast. But that doesn't happen often, so what I usaully do: I wait till 20 minutes before I have to leave and then make a bowl of oatmeal and a smoothie. I eat the oatmeal, drink half of the smoothie and take the other half on the road with me and finish it up in the car. I REALLY don't like vegtables or fruit, so the trying to eat "healthy" is a big challenge. My biggest saving grace is the smoothie. I don't use any ice, its all fruit. I throw in some OJ/Pineapple juice, 1 banana, a bunch of strawberries and frozen cut up cantaluope (for the ice). It winds up coming out to 22 oz. The best thing about it also, is that I was told its NOT good to work out on a full stomach, it harder for the stomach to digest.. If you eat solid food, you should an hour before working out. If your "meal" was liquid, your OK, just don'y do it imediately before your work out. After working out I drink a slimfast and then I'm not starving by the time I can get some lunch.
But I have to agree, I eat more when I eat breakfast. Although I don't go crazy. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I have been eating breakfast for a week now. And am only just finding that my hunger is starting to even out. IT has taken some effort on my part but I found that I was able to get through to lunchtime today without snacking.
I think it is the same as with other things, it takes a week or two for you to adjust. |

I eat dinner around 6 or so, sometimes as late as 9 depending on work, and usually nothing thereafter. The way I see it, most of my moving around is done for the day. I'm exhausted after work usually, so I eat, go to the gym and then that's it. Breakfast covers first half of work, lunch the 2nd, and dinner covers the rest of the day. Every now and then I have a slice of bread or something when I get home from the gym, but that is usually it.
If I eat late at night, I get very hungry in the morning. Then I eat a huge breakfast, and get more hungry by lunch. Meaning bigger lunch, and then 2nd servings at dinner. Then again, I need something later at night because I'm soooo hungry, and there I have it going. It's not worth it. Better go to bed without the feeling of being full. Drinking a lot seems to help though. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | I think the most important thing is not to be eating sugary things because they tend to make you want to eat more, sooner. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Eating Breakfast I found this article and I'm sure there are many more like it: http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/b...t?OpenDocument
Another issue might be what you're eating and how much. 'Big breakfast' is a relative term.

Rep Power: 0 | | Hey, you know, reading this post, I realized something about the plateau after 18 pounds...I was eating a slice of toast for breakfast, then not eating a slice of toast, before I plateaued; then I did. However, since the new year began, I started eating that toast again in the morning (with my coffee), and I think my plateau is over...I have lost 2 pounds prior to signing up here. I was 200.6 when I registered. I won't weigh-in at work now until Feb.6th, as I'm on vacation, but deep down, I think I'll be back on track with hopefully 4 pounds gone since the last time I weighed in, which was Monday (23rd). I'll let you know how I did.
I think there is something to eating breakfast!

Rep Power: 0 | | There is.... Every book on weight management I have read says that is the most important meal and it lets your body know you are not starving it, so it is willing to let go of the food it has taken in and use it.
Oh, the tricks we must use |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Yeah, I agree on that! Even though I hardly eat in the morning, I just can`t put anything in my mouth! I usually wait till nine or ten in the morning and then I get hungry. And THEN I eat my breakfast. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I just started eating a big breakfast in the morning and then several smaller meals througout the day. I find myself eating less during the day and even craving food less! It's given me more energy and made me feel more awake every day. What I usually eat for breakfast is...
Breakfast #1-
Approximately 4/5 egg whites (I use the egg white mix in the cartons) cooked in a pan like an omlette with low fat/fat free cheese in the centre. Cook it thorougly, enough to melt the cheese and cook the eggs all the way through. Plus 1/2 grapefruit with no sugar or honey. One slice of 12 grain/whote wheat toast with light peanut butter. Glass of water.
Breakfast #2-
1 cup of bran flakes with skim milk, no sugar. 1/2 grapefruit with no sugar or honey. 1/2 cup of fat free vanilla yogurt and berries. 1 cup of water.
These breakfasts usually fill me up and give me lots of energy! Plus, I'm getting most of the four food groups, minus the meat because I don't like eating meat in the morning. But that's what peanut butter is for! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Hm.. still, can`t eat in the morning, if I do, I eat more during the day, I guess it`s because the body wakes up and starts burning food too early...
Seem slike our reactions to breakfast are different. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I wanted to comment on this thread.
First let me say I do not promote either low carb or low fat diets, but what I have found is that if I eat a breakfast higher in protein I do not get hungry during the day. But if I eat one higher in carbohydrates, I do. For instance, if I eat eggs (like an egg, cheese and veggie omelet) I do great. If I eat cereal or oatmeal or fruit or toast for breakfast, I am hungry pretty quickly. The protein sustains you longer and is good for keeping those blood sugar levels at a good level. (I am not diabetic. I get low blood sugars which can make you "crash" and when that happens you tend to eat anything to get your blood sugar up which means a lot of unnecessary sugar and calories.)
I just wanted to share what helps me. |
