obsession with food

Hey,

Can anyone help me? Sometimes Im going along just fine and then I can just become obsessed with a particular food (often cake ) and I just cant get it out of my head no matter what tricks i try to play on myself. And because I try to resist but keep obsessing when I do finally have some I go crazy and binge.

How can I stop doing this to myself?

have the food...

as long as you stay within your calorie range for the day, don't deprive yourself -if you want something -have it - in moderation..

I cut out sugar from my diet, and it helped immensely with my food cravings. When I did decide to have cake (which has been only once since January), I ate a piece of my son's birthday cake, and it was enough to satisfy me. I don't miss it at all.

And I'm the queen of sugar.

If the binge is the issue:

There are stores that sell single pieces of cake, and or cupcakes and or other options along those lines. If having them in the house is the issue...buy less, and never make your own.

I have found that for me.....if I deprive myself of something then I obsess on it. One of my biggest downfalls is chocolate. I put two hersheys kisses in the freezer..then if I feel I just have to have chocolate..I can grab one...since it is frozen it takes awhile to eat..therefore I enjoy the flavor longer. I usually eat just one and don't feel the need for the second one.
