Lightbulb 10 Diet Rules to IGNORE!

Sooo, i came across this information and it caught my interest and thought maybe some others might like to read! Actually makes some sense...

10 Food Rules You Can Ignore:

1. Eating at night will pile on the pounds. The total calories you consume over a 24hour period or over a week is what causes you to gain weight and when you actually eat these calories doesn't matter.

2. It's best to eat at the same times every day. Eat when you're hungry, not when the clock says it's time to eat.

3. Dieting with a buddy always makes weight loss easier. Common goals may pay off, but, weight loss is a personal journey.

4. Dietary fat keeps you feeling full longer, so you'll eat less. Fat does take longer to digest, but it will not help you control your appetite. Foods likely to fight off hunger the longest is protein foods, followed by carbohydrates, then fats.

5. When you blow your diet, you might as well wait until the next day to get back on track. Nothing could be farther from the truth, always try to get right back on track with your next meal.

6. Refusing food at a party or when visiting is rude. Turning down food that you know will blow your diet is socially acceptable.

7. Skipping a meal every now and then will help you lose. Skipping a meal means you will be so hungry at the next meal that you are more likely to overeat. This can also help lead to a slowdown of your metabolism.

8. Bread is fattening, nuts is fattening, pasta is fattening. Whole-wheat bread/pasta is a great source of nutrients, and it won't make you gain weight more than any other food with the same number of calories.

9. All calories is equal. This is some-what true, however; you'll get more nutrients from a 100 calorie apple than from a 100 calorie portion of white bread. Choose healthier items if you are losing weight, or controlling your hunger.

10. If you do not clean your plate, you're wasting food. If you just do not feel right leaving the table until you've cleaned your plate, underestimate your hunger and put less food on your plate to begin with, or you may overeat.

1. Eating large meals at night seems to cause heartburn in a lot of people. I've also seen digestive problem or discomfort. So while I'll agree it probably does not affect the diet, I'd recommend giving yourself a couple of hours before bed if you're eating a large meal.

2. I agree. Why eat the the same time? What sense does that make?

3.Depending on the person, the competition/support can be helpful. Dieting with a buddy obviously won't double your calorie output, but it could help some people. It just depends on what kind of a person you are.

4. No idea!

5. Haha, this is actually something I'm guilty of. It is a very bad habit that I'm sure a lot of people fall for. But ya I agree. If you overeat on one meal it is not very sensible to blow your entire day off.

6. Most people in the U.S. would not give a rodent's bottom if you politely decline food. Either way, if a society puts a high value on accepting food, then at least be reasonable and don't binge!

7. I personally don't like skipping meals for that reason. It is easy to eat a small bowl or rice and sandwich when you're normal-hungry. When I skip meals and time for next meal comes (specially after the gym) god help us!

8. A balanced diet is important. I never understood why people shy away from certain food categories. Everything in moderation is fine.

9. Right. Calorie count is one thing, eating healthy is another.

10. I'm personally the kind of person who gets real annoyed with food wasters. Just make as much food as you want to eat! It isn't very difficult to know if this portion you put into your plate is frigging massive and is going to end up in the trash. And nobody forces you to eat a specific portion size (unless you're at a restaurant, in which case it's understandable if you can't/won't finish your plate).

IN regards to #4.)

you start processing carbs through amylases (absorption through the palette) they are the quickest to burn, the easiest to crave and is the best for "cheap energy" it's easy to utilize so that's why your body craves it... and fat can normally only be burned through sleep since it takes so much oxygen to burn it. If you tried to use fat as your only energy you'd pass out. It's also pretty hard to get your body to use protein as a source of energy. BUT it's the best

Just elaborating

#8.) ACTUALLY the whole nuts being fatty is true to an extent, some are very fattening like pecans. That's why they are so tasty because of all the oils. Walnuts are actually a good fatty....bleached flour like white bread IS pretty fattening, because of all the cheap carbs.

lol at #10.)...I make little portions but if i don't eat it then my dogs are happy to do it for me
