Rep Power: 558881 | | | That's actually a great video Leigh.
I've been telling people this forever. People just don't realize how easy it is to be off in their measurements. Digital food scales are beautiful pieces of machinery!
Yet, people sit for hours trying to figure out how many calories they expended today in the gym. It's a futile process.... there's just too much room for error.
Measure as best you can your food intake.
Do 'enough' exercise to make a difference.
Track progress.
Adjust as needed..... |

Rep Power: 357932 | | | progress is really irrelevant
you can get the same progress by doing things wrong as well...

Rep Power: 108472 | | | This is exactly why I don't worry about my calorie counts being "too low" at the end of the day. I'd guess that I "really" eat at least 10-15% more calories than I record, due to approximation error, and that estimate is borne out by the rate I lose at.

That's a great video. Nice, simple and to the point.

Rep Power: 9129 | | | Glad it has been enjoyed, I have received a lot of good feedback on it. It is the first of many, going to de-construct a lot of little things, nothing to fancy or hard to grasp. If there is anything you guys want to see as well, let me know! |

Rep Power: 195 | | I actually worried about the difference between measuring my cheerios and weighing it...so i took my 1.5 cups (which is my normal serving size) and weighed it and the weight was exactly what it should be for the calories i was expecting. It really does depend on how carefully you measure things though. Peanut butter is something that i always just take less then a tablespoon measure and count it as a tablespoon- that way i am not underestimating.
I guess i'm different in that i don't ever try to figure out how many calories i burn at the gym! I dont think that there is a simple, accurate way to do this (please let me know if i am wrong about this) and i also don"t think it matters all that much. I know that whatever the machines tell you have you burned is not all that accurate.
If i am doing my 60 minutes of exercise, that is what is important!
However from what i've seen with dieters, eating too much is rarely the problem. Most people who are trying to lose weight eat way too few calories.
Even so, an interesting video!

Rep Power: 158 | | | ive never once measured my food. personally it wont work for me due to many reasons. but it obviously works for some!! and its a damn good way (if you can keep track of it) to keep an eye on what your eating, especially if your not good at judging your food.
ive lost most of the weight i wanted to , without measuring, but i dont eat fatty foods so...not much reason to measure. if i wanst vegan id probably consider measuring food though...

Rep Power: 181 | | | Good stuff makes sense. I've been measuring things for ages..and started weighing a couple of weeks ago, quite a reality check as most of my measurements were more fantasy than fact!!
