Monster and AMP

Ok well I kinda have an addiction to amp and monster. I drink they regularly and I decided to stop drinking them because I though it would help with weight loss.

I have been losing 2lb or more for the last couple weeks while I was drinking monster and amp. Now the last two weeks I stopped drinking them and I haven't been losing at much weight.

I'm convinced that energy drinks speed up my metabolism. Do you guys think there is any truth to this. If its speeding up my metabolism they must be pretty bad for you....

those things are primarily caffiene or a caffeine derivative... i doubt it'll speed up your metabolism for any length of time - it will have a diuretic effect though i'd imagine

Are you 100% sure that everything else is totally equal? Were you eating exactly the same way otherwise? Those things have so many calories that I would be fairly shocked to find that dropping them alone actually changed metabolism enough to make that kind of a difference. You would have to burn up over 1,000 calories a day to lose 2 pounds a week, plus you've got the calories of the actual drinks you have to burn through.

Let's say you are drinking just 1 can of Monster per day, for 300 calories. Basically what you are saying is that the lack of energy drinks is putting a 1,330 calorie dent in your metabolism. I seriously doubt that is the case. Drinking one can of an energy drink is not going to boost your metabolism by burning up over 1,300 calories a day. IF that were the case, hell, I could get rich writing a book called "The Energy Drink Diet". What's the point of exercising and dieting if we can just chug one of these high calorie cans?

Ya im eating healthy also by cutting calories. If you dont believe me drink 1 can per day, with your regular weight loss plan, and see what happens. Report back in a week i bet you lose more weight.

I regularly drink a lot of energy drinks and coffee. They seem to have the side effect of minor appetite suppression.

Every now and then, I go a few days without having an energy drink. I weigh myself quite frequently, and I never noticed a difference in weight loss. But since they may decrease your appetite, maybe you're just eating more while not on them? Either way, the metabolism boost cannot be that massive.

Also, you could have hit a plateau.
