| Weight Gain on Mirena
As many of you know, I've been plateauing since June 2007, despite calorie counting and regular exercising. Sure I like to eat and have screwed up at times, but I've counted calories religiously and been careful for long stretches as well, to no avail. Someone on the forum has also had this problem and wondered if it was related to the Mirena IUD (which emits a small dose of synthetic/fake progesterone). That got me looking on the net, and here's a typical story I saw on the message boards about Mirena:
"OK i have had mine for about 31/2 years, i am the same i have gained 62 pounds since getting this. i am 5'4" and weigh in at 200. i have never been this big even when i was prego. they say that it isn't because of my iud, i think that it is. i have never been over a size 12 and now i am 18w and some 20. so that is a problem. i lost all of my baby weight and then some when i had m last one. i was at a size 8. then i got this iud and put on 62 pounds, there is no reason for it. i went to the gym everyday, and counted calories, and everything else and all i have done is gained more weight."
Anybody else on the Mirena experiencing weight gain or an inability to lose, despite never having a problem losing weight before getting the Mirena?
