Rep Power: 476 | | | My goal is so far off! So for the first time I'm actually on a good, healthy, lifestyle changing program that's working for me...I've been doing well with only a couple of bad days, and I've been able to stay away from the things that usually ruin diets, or I've been able to control my portions of those things. I've lost over 6 pounds in the last 2 weeks!
But my goal is still about 45 pounds away! And it seems like such a long way to go! I know I can keep it up and I know that this is working for me and I don't want to go back to my old ways, in fact I know I won't this time.
It's just so disheartening to think about how far I have to go...the clothes I have that I want to fit into once again are still about 20 pounds away, and it's so frustrating that even though I'm doing so good I'm not near there yet, and I won't be for another couple of months!
I guess this is just a rant of my frustrations that losing weight isn't an overnight thing lol...
I'm sure you've all gone through this, how do you make yourself feel better?

Rep Power: 357932 | | | Just keep going one day at a time and you will get there.. consistency is what gives results...
Enjoy your life now -don't put off doing things for when you are at XX weight -because you might or might not get there.. reaching a magical number of weight won't change who you are inside - so enjoy that person now... and get out and do things...

Rep Power: 7 | | Try to not think about how much you want to loose. You should feel good right now because your starting a long term change. Give yourself a pat on the back
Also allowing yourself a bad day once a week or so, within reason of course is good because heck...You deserve it. |

Rep Power: 43024 | | | At the beginning of a diet, its always hard to stay on track. Keep a good strong and solid mental view of what you want to look like, and as the weeks fly by, and you see change, the mental part of a diet becomes a whole lot easier. Dont give in, anyone can do this.

And regardless of whether you plan to live with it forever, "be at goal now" isn't a choice available to you. The only choices available are "be at goal at a specific point in the future" or "not be at goal at a specific point in the future." So from my perspective, there's no point in fretting about choices that aren't available; they distract you from focussing on the choices that are available.
I agree with mal - live in the now, and enjoy it.

Rep Power: 2049 | | It's all in the mindset Morning,
While instant gratification must be a wonderful thing....after a year+ of being on my get-healthy lifestyle I have to say, the journey itself gave me far more benefits than simply mere weight loss. Instant gratificiation would have prevented me from internalizing those.
Some of the benefits include me learning aspects of my inner strength, learning how to ignore my little voice when it gets insidious, learning how to tackle EVERYTHING with a positive attitude and the like.
Regarding pants size, I found that that is not the only benchmark you can use! You can also strength-train and weight lift and develop respectable biceps, that will allow you to wear sleeveless gi's (karate uniforms) and tank tops. Now that, I will admit, feels utterly magnificent.
Enjoy,

Rep Power: 27868 | | | Hey, another Linzee/Lindsey! I think it might help you to split your overall goal into smaller goals, like how I do. I want to eventually get to a normal weight (...that, I'm a bit unsure of), but I have a really long way to go, so what I've done is split into ten percents. Once I reach 270, my next goal will be to lose 27 more pounds, or reach 243.

Rep Power: 19363 | | | I know it seems like a far off thing, but it really isn't. Just think of how good you feel and how much energy you have. I have more energy so I want to move more, even though it is winter. I don't feel tired or sluggish. So the better you feel, the more you move, the more calories you burn.
'Diets' are hard. Like some of the others said, it is a lifestyle change. It makes it tolerable.
But I may be the wrong person to ask, because I am very militant.

thanks for your advice guys, i'll try to appreciate the way i'm feeling and looking right now rather than concentrating on my goal weight

Rep Power: 0 | | | I always think about how proud I am of myself that im losing weight the healthy way. If you stick to something, and reach a goal the proper way, you have this feeling of acheivment that you can get no other way.
If your changing your lifestyle, making healthy living part of your every day...then you can assure yourself that this time, you will keep that weight off. You will be at your "happy weight", and you will have one less thing to be stressed or sad about...becuase everyone knows that life is not all puppies and rainbows...the less that you have to worry about, the better. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Most of us here have felt the same way from time to time. The best thing I can tell you is think about how great you will look and feel if you continue to stay motivated. I know staying motivated is definitely the hardest thing but you've got to do it if you want to make a change in your life. Good luck!
