I have had several great experiences with detoxification. Though our bodies do have a natural detoxification process via liver etc., detoxing does strengthen our organs.
I strongly recommend detox to anyone interested, especially before undertaking a new diet or food change. Detox cleans you out & starts you fresh, it increases your energy & depending on what you are using, removes parasites and build up in the colon.
Colonix has a great colon & liver cleanse. If you look at their website they have some pretty graphic pictures of things that came out of people's bodies! Colonix is highly recommended by reputable natural health practitioners.
Juice fasting is also a great detox, because it lessens the toxic loads in the body and the body will then naturally begin to heal itself. Fasting provides the opportunity for the organs to rest and it stimulates the liver by pushing away the toxins from the body.
After doing a juice fast & a detox, the best thing you can do for your body is to switch to a raw foods diet. "busy91" is definitely on the right track with that. The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose is a great book to start with. I recommend that you research colonix, juice fasting & raw food diets. There is so much information out there on the subjects. Here is a link to a "links page" that has a lot of great info on it. I especially recommend the links on fasting & raw foods.

Good luck on your quest! You're definitely on the right track!

There is a lot of evidence that suggests that it makes it easier for you body to release the fat once your body is free of toxins. The toxins acutally cause your body to hold on to fat and increase water retention. I have all of my clients do a cleanse. Its important how the cleanse is structured and the nutrition that it provides. The last thing you want to do is starve yourself with no nutrition at all. Anyway cleansing definitely has a place in ever weight/fat loss program

I can show you hundreds of before and after photos but here a a few websites that also back up that statement

Articles (read: Fat as Protection from Toxins)

The Diet ChannelNatural Health Perspectives: Toxins In Your Body May Prevent You From Losing Weight | The Diet Channel

Just as a side note I am not advocating any products from those sites. I just did a quick search. If you are looking for something more specific I would be happy to assist you along with your own searches. Currently there is only 1 nutritional cleanse that I suggest after trying many with myself and clients.

I can make any claim I want, then spend about 5 minutes or less, to find info to back up said claim.. Doesn't mean that the claim I'm making is accurate or healthy...

the only problem with detoxes is that some people think that its a sustainable diet....which can be very dangerous

Would love to see that too.

Not some b&a photos, but something published in a scientific journal that has been peer reviewed.

You'd think a company that claims to have created 12 millionaires might spend a little money to fund an independent study to back up their claims.

I always get a chuckle out of the claim that the reason we're fat is because of the toxins in our system.

So you're telling me there are no skinny people working in smelters, paper mills, and other toxic environments? That all the people working there are fat to protect themselves?

BTW, how does a skinny person (ectomorph) protect themselves from toxins? Why doesn't their body create fat in response to toxins? Where does their body store the toxins if they have little body fat to hold them?

Let me ask you this. You claim a detox will flush the toxins out. Tell me why did the body store toxins in the first place?

The human body is 61.8 percent water by weight. So what's magical about the detox? Don't you think a normal functioning body would do what it was designed to do in the first place - flush the crap out?

Sure, there may be a few toxins stored in the fatty tissues, but I'm afraid the only way you're going to get them out is to oxidize the fat - use it as fuel. (Through the Krebs Cycle/Citric Acid Cycle). Not by flushing it out.

Geee! I'm full of questions today!

Don't you think if you did a detox and flushed out all those poisons, that the sudden influx of toxins into your system would burn out the liver?

One of the best natural detoxes there are is sweating - so work out till you sweat

Seriously, the folks who have told you that the body has built in detoxification mechanisms are telling it true. Just eat a very nutritious diet of whole foods, drink plenty of water and exercise regularly. Your body will detox itself.

God Bless,
mik

Doc Bunkum, we are all her to talk about weight loss and before and after pictures are a very real way to show that. Even if you feel like cleansing does not work but it allows someone to reach their goal, then why not be happy for them. The fact is I have helped hundreds of people lose a total of thousands of pounds and keep it off. Nutritional cleansing is a big part of that! So if you dont feel like nutritional cleansing works for you then you keep doing what you do and Ill keep doing what I do and that is producing results. You cant argue with results, whether you believe in the process or not

It couldn't have been the exercise and diet programs that led to those transformations.

No way........

Example, Client A loses 100 lbs. Then she's in a car accident and loses her leg. The before picture was taken before the weight loss. The after picture was taken after the weight loss, but just after the accident.

By your logic, only going by B&As as evidence, losing weight causes loss of limbs.

You have now, have you?

Those are mighty impressive statistics.

Congratulations!

I doubt very many professional trainers have ever achieved anything near what you've accomplished.

I stand by the fact that detox's are a mental remedy rather than an actual measurable physical benefit. This of course doesn't extend to actual diseases which result from toxification of the body such as heavy metal toxicity, but that is a different matter which require real medical attention.

Have you ever taken a pain pill and felt the pain lessen almost immediatley? If you make yourself believe you feel better than odds are...you will feel better. This isn't inherintly bad per se. The brain is truly amazing.

wishes and others who have echoed her are correct. Your body doesn't make it a habit of retaining harmless products. Stimulating massive diarrhea (which can damage intestinal lining and/or intesitinal flora), consuming copoious amounts of roughage in lieu of foods (fiber bound nutrients cannot be utilized), drinking asinine quantities of water (can overwork the kidneys), and fasting for days on nothing but liquid (metabolic nightmare) will cause more harm than good. Your body strives to exist in a homeostatic state. However, if the detox method sold to you makes you feel better mentally then far be it from me to stand in your way. Ice cream does the same thing for me. Pick your poison I suppose. You might want to do a quick search to see how many top athletes go for a weekly colonic or fast for days with nothing but juice.

If you are truly concerned about side effects of medication you have taken then consult your doctor and then seek a second or third opinion.

Thumbs up Depo Detox

Please let me know if you actually find something that works to get this God awful drug out of my system! Since I have been on the depo, I have eaten healthier than ever in my life because I knew that it caused weight gain, but I still managed to pack on about 22 pounds in 6 months! So for those users who have obviously never been on it and like to claim that the weight gain is because " we shovel calories down our throats" has absolutley no experience with this type of birth control or they would have never made such an assanine remark! Anyway, having said that, I hear that there is an herbal "flush" that is available at GNC that should help get it out of your system and I am planning on going to the actual store sometime this week to inquire about it. I am also concerned with the fertility aspect of it. I am ready to start trying again and I am really worried that I will have trouble with it. I will let you know what I find out.

If depo were honestly that easy to flush out of your system - I dont think it'd be a very effective method of birth control.

Time is what will do it...
