Wal-mart is where I go to do a lot of my clothes shopping because it's cheap, and the plus size selection is better than most stores in the area. So fine.
However, it was only today that I went in and noticed there was zero selection for exercise clothes. None. Then as I walked by the "normal sizes" I noticed racks and racks full of colourful, pretty exercise clothes, and I'm just thinking, come on!!! Do they just assume fatties will never exercise so they don't need exercise clothes? If anything there should be more exercise clothes there than anywhere else in the store!!!
I think it's ridiculous that it's like that. What kind of statement, and assumptions are they making about us overweight people? My goodness!

Yah it blows. What they have that might fit is sweat suits, yipee! I have seen some gear in the "regular" section go up to xxl and the pants are quite roomy. Good luck in your search!

There's probably not alot of business in selling exercise clothing to large women, and lots of chicks with nice bodies, work hard to maintain, so thats probably where their business comes from.
Now for guys is a diff story, there's always a ton of gear out there for larger men, probably cause more overweight men exercise over women. This is nota fact, merely based on my own observations.

This has been my position even regarding regular clothing...it is so frustrating.
I have found that you can get cheap plus sized things if you look around, I have gotten shirts and shorts, etc on the 75% off racks at Macys and Boscov's. Also, believe it or not, JC Penney has a decent line called SJB Active, I believe I got some things there for about ten dollars an item or less.
It can be done, you just have to look harder. KMart has some cheaper plus sized exercise clothes as well so try there.

I ranted about this some time ago- I've never set foot in a walmart but it's pretty common actually... workout clothes for the people who need them the most - at a reasonable price especially... are tough to find...
Not impossible, but tough to find...
While cute workout clothes make you feel better about working out - as long as the stuff fits it's gonna look ok no matter what -don't overlook the men's department... avoid the heavy fleece and go for the jersey stuff and you'll be fine...
Target's Champion line does have plus size stuff that's cute - this time of year -to my dismay it's primarily those horrid capri pants and tank tops (neither are a good look on most women) but they've got some stuff.

my advice is to shop online. There are loads of workout clothes in so many different styles you can order online. Buy a bunch at once so you only have to pay one shipping charge and you should be fine

There is a walmart near me that decided to shrink the plus size section into a small little corner. I went there the other day and I couldnt believe how little of a selection there was compared to the "normal sized clothing section". It was also very unorganized. I'm very diappointed with them.

Trust me there are a lot more and better reasons to be unhappy with Wal-Mart. If you don't like their selection you should shop elsewhere. Capitalism at work! Aint it beautiful?

Ah well, see there are two problems I have with not shopping at a Walmart. The first being that I live in a small town that's limited. We don't have k-marts, or targets or anything (I live in Canada). And the other Walmart type stores don't have plus sizes that fit me.
Also, the only plus sized store we do happen to have is too expensive. I can't afford to be paying $35+ for one piece of work-out clothing.

Got ya, sorry if I came across smug in my previous response. I understand completely. I would shop online if I were you. Or make a day of driving to the nearest larger town when its time to buy clothes. I am in a small town also and Wal-Mart started selling groceries about 1.5 yrs ago. They put all the other stores in town out of business but yet they don't sell a lot of things I like to buy. And I refuse to eat the meat from Wal-Mart. We drive 25m to a larger town anytime we need clothing and even go weekly for groceries.

ok, this may sound weird, and I might be too scared to do it myself... but would you think of saying something or even writing a letter to a manager at your walmart? tell them how happy you have been in the past and your dilemma, MAYBE they didnt realize this was a want and add what you need to the inventory..maybe!

The Wal-mart near me has a really big plus size section. I'm pretty certain I've seen work out clothing in that section too. I don't go in there much. I have no problem with Wa-mart, just the one in particular that is next to my house.
