If I read correctly- you said " I bet you I have seen more weight loss results in the past year than you have" - mal, was just informing you on her progress, it may not be a "miracle" but it is a great accomplishment, since you assumed you have made so much more progress than her. Good for your friend also. In my opinion any amount of weight loss is great.
