Rep Power: 0 | | | Size vs Weight I lost 112 pounds from January - December of 2007. When Christmas came it was too much and I gave in to temptation. Six months later, I am just now starting to get back into it. I haven't gained any weight since then, I still weigh 194, but I am questioning my goals.
The biggest thing I worry about is what everyone tells me versus what I see. I get complimented all the time about how good I look, and when someone finds out that I still want to lose weight, I get the old "You don't need to lose weight" comment. I don't want to lose "weight", I want to lose "fat". I know people are comparing me to my old self, but it is hampering my fat loss efforts.
I think another reason why I am told I don't need to lose weight is because of my weight:height ratio. I am 6'5, I weigh 194, but I still have a lot of fat on my stomach, back, and under my arms. I know people who are shorter and weigh more than me, yet they have a flat stomach and look awesome. I know this is probably because of muscle and genetics. I don't have much muscle, I do exercise, but I do not lift weights or anything of that sorts.
I have no clue how much fat I need to lose, but I am guessing it would be around 20 pounds. If I weigh around 175, my BMI would still be 20.7. Everyone thinks I have a disorder because I am not happy with my size, but when I sit down and feel my stomach bulging out and making it harder for me to breath, I know I am right.
So all of this leads me to my question. Would it be possible for me to lose another 20 or so pounds of fat without building muscle or lifting weights, and potentially weigh 170-175, or is that too low of a weight for my height without having muscle?
If you are wondering about my exercise, I play a couple hours of DDR every day, I walk about 30-45 minutes a few days a week, and I am on my feet most of the day at work. It just isn't possible right now for me to do much more. I attend college full time, I have a full time job and a family. I can barely do what I do now. |

Rep Power: 357932 | | | if you can play ddr a couple of hours a day -surely you can spend some time doing strength training.. your body will appreciate it... I'd spend some time with the stickied theads and work the body weight exercises if nothing else...
Keep focused on healthy eating - and moderate exercise and your body will cooperate..
I wouldn't be overly concerned with the number on the scale -but instead how you're feeling and what you're seeing and how your clothes are fitting...

Rep Power: 0 | | I'm sorry I didn't mean to say I play DDR a couple hours a day, I actually meant per week. Not enough time in the day for that
But thanks for the reply, I am not concerned a bit about the scale number, I don't even own a scale now. I am paying close attention to how my body feels and looks, and basing everything on that.
Where can I find the sticky on body weight exercises? |
