No, because I dont find the website useful at all!
I started my weightloss back in october because i wanted to prove to myself that i could loose weight eventhough it was christmas and all that. And till now, things has gone better than i planned. 10th of october i was at 92,6 kg., and today i hit 76,7 kg..
I want to show you a thing i made for counting calories. You see, i was tired of all these excel spreadsheets there is outthere, and i couldnt find a website that was fast and could easily help me figure out how much a meal was just by putting in a few numbers. Thats why i made this little utility website:
- Link has been deleted due to this 'being an ad'
Send me a PM if you want to stop by and check it out anyways.
I got all the data from a danish database delivered by the danish ministry of food (im not quite sure thats the correct translation, but at least i tried ). The search for foods is quite snap, and that is what i wanted. I didnt want people to browse to some sub-menu to figure out their calorie intake, but i wanted something that was fast and easy.
When you have found what you are searching for, click the little plus-icon to the right, and it will be added to your menu. When you have done that, you can adjust how much you will base your calculation on, for instance 223 gr of trimmed pork tenderloin. This will automatically adjust your intake to 230 calories. Add another, for instance 300 gr of potato, this adds 231 calories and sums it all up to 461 calories for the menu you have chosen.
Another thing, if you want to compare different types of foods, for example the tenderloin and a potato, click the padlock to the left of the line and it will remain in the list when you search for the next thing. That way you can compare fat, proteins, etc..
I dont hope you see this as an add for my own site, because it is not meant that way. I have used this "tool" to be able to control what i put in my mouth, and i hoped that others could find it useful as well. I have no gain in people using the site (rather the other way around, it puts some pressure on the webserver :-))
I have a few features i want to add to the site, and if you have ideas, please post them and i will see what i can do. I want to add a user registration feature so you can save your menues. Apart from that, i want a good list of healthy menus easy accessible with a few clicks. A way of users registering their weight so they can monitor their weightloss without pen and paper.
Please, if you find any bugs, let me know, and i will try to correct them :-)
I hope to get some feed back from you all.
Merry Christmas!

Well, that is a shame. This was a contribution, a contribution that i had spend more than 60 hours on.
Wikipedia on Advertisement:
"A commercial solicitation designed to sell some commodity, service or similar"
Commercial is the keyword - this was something i made for myself that i wanted to share with everybody else wanting to loose some weight. Paying for traffic at my host, its rather an expense, but i wanted to do people a favor.
Uhm, i had hoped for a little more warm welcome here.
By "us" i mean all-who-wanna-loose-weight, and is exactly why i posted it here in the weight loss forum. You cant at least say that it is off topic. I am surprised that this is the reaction you get when you wanna share something that somebody else could find useful.
I could understand your concern if the site was filled with google adds, i was selling weight-loss-stuff, but no. This was just meant as a helping hand to those who wanted a place to look up the calories, fat, proteins, etc in the food they are eating. Nothing more, nothing less.
Its a shame that people is getting so suspecious... "I bet he is up to something", "Oh, he is gaining from it, its an add!" - Am I really the only one wanting to help others without getting anything in return?
There are plenty of sites outthere with great food databases. But as i wrote in my first post, i wasnt happy with the way they were working. If i had a meal with:
It would take me more than 5 minutes before i had figured out my total calorie intake. That is why I tried to invent something faster, easier to use and not a complete food website. This site is focusing on what is there for.
About my last question, no of course not. It was more a hint that I dont really understand this "talk to the hand" attitude I felt that I got here. I created something that I hoped could become useful for a lot of people outthere, but instead I feel more like I am flagged like a spammer :-)
Anyways, this is going nowhere. Please just accept that this website was made for no other purpose than helping people figuring out what they eat, and for no other reason.
If you understood the constant bombardment of spam we deal with on this forum, you'd understand that not all sites can be reviewed and weeded out. If people are interested in your site, they'll PM you for the address. If they find utility in it, I'm requesting here that they inform me and then we'll allow you to post it.
Sound fair?
Actually, before I go and make that claim, I'd be interested in seeing it. Please PM me the address.

I am admin on a large danish forum as well, and I am well aware of people just wanting visitors for the heck of it. This was also why I tried the best i could to explain that this was not in my own interest :-) But it seemed that i failed :-)

Reason: Please read edit notes... + typo
Its very basic, and not as useful as a lot of the other free ones around.
Sorry bud.
Some of the food choices listed are confusing. Like I wanted to add chicken breast, no skin, grilled (or cooked anyway but boiled) didn't seem to be there.
It is very basic, and that is the point. It is a quick-to-use-then-leave utility as it is now, and that is what i tried to achieve. I still havent found a site like it out there eventhough i believe i did my googling to it. I would love to see one that:
- Doesnt require registration or login
- Doesnt need to post data for each search
- Makes your calculations with so few clicks
If you know such a site, please PM me with links :-)
I agree that there could be more types of food and variants in the database, but this version one is based on a already existing database from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries here in Denmark - which is also why I have based the page on two languages. More could be added to it, i completely agree, but i still havent eaten anything that i couldnt find in that list :-)
But again, thank you for your point of view, even if you dont like the site. Your criticism was constructive :-) It was not a site for you, and that is fair enough :-)
