I know from my own heart rate monitor that while I was walking that it wasn't in the ideal "burning zone", but I did lose a lose more weight and considerably faster just strolling along for a few hours a night, than I did sitting around. Would I have lost even more had I been running? Well sure, but that doesn't mean my walking had only had a minimal impact on my weight loss.
I've experienced this each time I've regained weight. Given the amount of walking someone actually does on the job is questionable. Quote:
Ultimately, I think my point still stands ... most people think they burn more calories than they actually do in their daily activities.
| I personally don't count daily activities as exercise. |

| Me either! I know people who really do track everything they do - from brushing their teeth to walking from the parking lot to .. I dunno ... having sex.
I personally just figure myself to be moderately active (I have a sedentary job, but I do housework, park as far away as possible, do exercises at my desk throughout the day, etc.) and base my calories on that. Otherwise you could drive yourself crazy trying to figure out how many calories you burn during the day. |

Rep Power: 0 | | kara, you should be a lawyer haha...guys I am a smoker..unfortunately, and i know it's not good for you, slows your metabolism etc etc, but if i quit that too i think i'll start eating shitty food again. I noticed though that I been smoking even more now because I have cut out junk. The sight of junk food is disgusting. A jar of mayo looks like a jar of fat. I can't wait to drop all my weight, I'm like addicted to weight loss I think. Weight loss is the best drug i've ever tried...not that I've tried many drugs haha. I ate one of those fruit souce things today..no added sugar. It says it's a 100% fruit. Are they ok? |

| Well a jar of mayo IS mostly a jar of fat - it's just egg yolk and olive oil. But it's healthy fat and there's nothing wrong with mayo in moderation.
Don't move into this realm where you start to reject perfectly good food as being "bad" out of some kind of dieting obsession. Food itself is rarely "good" or "bad". What we do with the food is what makes it good or bad for us. Healthy eating ... TRUE healthy eating ... means achieving balance. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
