Rep Power: 0 | | | shirataki noodles-are they a fad or can they help you lose weight??? Hi Guys,
I am new to the forum and have been reading through loads of the old posts on here and another forum. Loads of great tips being picked up already so thank you everyone!!
I have read a few discussions about "shirataki noodles", I have never heard of these and wonder what they are and how they help you lose weight? People seems to be swearing by them as a low carb choice and how great they are?
If anyone can let me know about their experiences and what the benefits are that would be great!
All the best,

Rep Power: 72 | | No food can "help you lose weight" in the sense that eating lots of that food will burn fat or be some magic fix.
If you're looking ot cut back on carbs, or if you're gluten intolerant, or if you have other wheat/carb issues, they're a good choice to still be able to eat pasta. But they're not a "fix" or a "fad" or anything else. They're just a type of food.
Unless you have carb issues, you might as well eat whole grain pastas in reasonable amounts.
I mean I wouldn't say don't eat shiritaki noodles, but don't go eating them because you think they're going to make you lose weight better/faster. |

Yes, certain foods are better to eat than others (obviously), but there is no food out there that will actually make you lose weight. Well, unless you count milk, because that makes people poop a lot, which, in some way, shape or form, could be considered weight loss, but...

Thanks for the info. I just wondered what peoples experience with them were as I've never heard of them before and here in the UK they don't appear to be readily available to purchase.

Rep Power: 0 | | I ordered some and couldn't finish them. Aside from the fact that they don't taste very good (not bad ... just not good), the fact that they're 0 calorie (actually the soluble fiber should count and I would say depending on what you get, they're 5 to 25 kcal a packet) just makes me want them less. I think it predisposes me to not like them. That's not the worse of it ...
They just do not work. You just really want real food after eating them! So you're going to still eat your regular stuff anyway. In the end, they're relegated to some corner of my kitchen never to see the light of day again. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
