Rep Power: 1 | | | My first day at the gym Today was my first day at the gym. Like many im looking to lose a bit of weight so I hoped on the treadmill and set it to an incline and pretty fast. I did 2 miles on the treadmill which is really good for me. so right as I step off the machine to walk away it literally felt like the floor was moving out from under me. like i was still on the treadmill. I kinda stumbled out of there after that It just felt weird to walk. finally went away when I got to my car.
anyone ever get this sensation before? was it to much in one day or did i get off to fast?
overall it was a better experience then I thought at the gym though. There is all kinds of people all kinds of weight. all shooting for thier own goals and could care less about you. this is pretty much the way I had hoped it would be.

Rep Power: 0 | | | Never from running. But I haven't used treadmills a lot. I have experienced the same thing after a day on a sailboat or an afternoon on rollerblades. It's kind of like the phantom limb syndrome amputees experience. Call it phantom experience syndrome. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I felt that way when I came back from my 7 day cruises I used to take, for the first day or so the ground felt funny and I walked funny because my body got used to walking according to the feel of the water and when I unconsciously make that water compensation on solid ground it has a wierd feeling and makes me walk funny. LOL! |

Rep Power: 6 | | Haha, yes, I get this exact same thing. I don't think it's anything to worry about! Normally if I stand on the treadmill a while after it's stopped moving, have a bit of a breather and a drink of water, by the time I get off it's not too bad! |

Rep Power: 8 | | Yes, I have experienced this many times when getting off my treadmill, especially when I was first working out. Now, I use it so much and so often that I either am not experiencing the feeling, or I am so used to it that I no longer notice, LOL! I think it is perfectly normal.
Good luck at the gym! |

Rep Power: 46 | | I think it is actually pretty common with treadmills - you're walking/running, your body thinks that means you are moving forward, yet you are staying in the same place. No wonder you get a little spatial disorientation when you step off. |

Rep Power: 7 | | I get that same sensation every time - I've been running on treadmills for a long time and it has never gone away.
Thing is, I actually kinda like the sensation |

Rep Power: 1 | | Ok. It just kinda caught me off guard.
I am so out of shape. there are many different pieces of equipment I say to myself, hey that doesnt look to bad. I can do that awhile. Then 3 minutes on the machine and its like. oh my god. puff puff puff. how are these people doing this for an hour at a time.
This first week I intend to do mostly cardio stuff. then add weight training as time goes on. |

It's not a good idea to go from moving quickly to standing still and even causes some people to faint! But congrats on getting started. Visit my website if you want to get acquainted [Spam]
