I think you're going to need to do a lot more than just lose weight to be able to run a marathon.

You need to build up your endurance. I actually think running in a marathon is a better goal than losing 60 lbs in less than 5 months. Just because someone is thin doesn't make them healthy. If you start training now there isn't any reason you couldn't run a marathon in January.

Interesting. !

...I think you need to train a lot for a marathon. It is doable. Not sure if you are already a runner,...but I just finished one...and it was my first..and it was HARD and took me 5 hours and 59 mins. to finish!..You can definitely do it, yet the weight is definitely killer on your shins and legs. I can tell you from carrying my own weight.

...To prevent injury you should train a lot, not sure about January,...but I think you can definitely do a 1/2 marathon by then!...You just have to run like the wind...and often! !

Good Luck to yoU!!!

You do realize that a marathon is 26 miles right?

You do realize that as a first time runner is it HIGHLY unlikely that you'll win the marathon to get the $1 million prize?

Losing 60 lbs in 2 months is unreasonable.
Running and winning a marathon in 2 months is also unreasonable.

If you want to lose weight and train to run a marathon, I think that's an admirable goal. There are many people here who have lost far more than that and many people here who have run marathons. But I suspect all of them will tell you that they didn't do it in two months.

I'd suggest that you start by reading the sticky posts in the various forums here - learn about nutrition and proper exercise. That will give you a place to start.
