Rep Power: 0 | | | hair loss problem..i need sum help Hi
Recently I am getting a lot of hair loss. Could it be due to weight loss thing? If yes, what can be done to control it?
I 've lost 64lbs in last 8 months and I am not taking any vitamin supplements, however, I try to take a lot of fruits and vegetables in my diet. And also considerable amounts of vegetarian sources of protein like milk and legumes |

Rep Power: 85 | | | It may help if you gave such information as your gender and age.
Many men lose their hair.
Some women lose hair due to hormonal problems - it can be a symptom of PCOS for example.
I dont know of any dietary problems that can have that effect - but that doesnt mean that there arent any. Someone else may be able to help. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Hair loss may be due to genetics so have a look at your family to see if they have hair loss or baldness.
But also a deficiency in B vitamins - B3, 5 & 6 are the essential vitamins for hair loss. It can also be a high consumption of vitamin A but if not enough vitamin A can also cause the problem.
With a healthy diet it would tend to keep this problem to a minimum but again for the growth & strength of hair Vitamin sources are the most important ones.
Vitamin C will help maintain blood to the follicles
Vitamin E will also help the oxygen in your body to circulate and improve the circulation to your scalp. = improvement to hair growth. |

Rep Power: 72 | | Hair loss while dieting is also a sign of not getting enough fat in your diet. If you're cutting out fats, you may be cutting out too much.
As Omega said, it would help to have more information - age, current weight, what you're eating (in more detail). |

And also omega 3 fatty acids does help the hair and it also adds shine doe to the oils in your hair (which is good) so you should think about taking some fats from healthy sources.
E.g. Fish - salmon, trout , tuna. Flax seeds, eggs, nuts like walnuts & hazel , olive oil, multiple berries and even also different types of herbs.
Fats are also important in our diet so you should consider some healthy fats to get in all of nutrient factors. |

| Eating some healthy fat would help more than a multivitamin. YOu MUST have some fat in your diet. There are some vitamins that are fat soluble - that means that they NEED fat in order to be absorbed by your body. Also your body - your skin, your hair, your nails - need some fat to grow properly. Olive oil, avocados, nuts and seeds, are all good sources of healthy fats. You should be getting at a MINIMUM 15% - 20% of your calories each day from fat. |
