SO. FULL. (Depressed appetite)

So, I am eating breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks (trying the small meals approach, since I tend to go overboard at dinnertime) but not only am I not going hungry, I am so full I can barely move.

For example, today I've had 778 calories (appx.), but my caloric goal is closer to 1,700!!! I was supposed to eat a banana with my tomato soup for lunch and I was so full I couldn't eat it. And I have almost 1,000 calories left to go for the day.

I haven't been eating too much (an orange, handful of mixed nuts, a can of soup, a bag of pretzels, and a V-8 today) but I've been eating pretty much continuously. I know that doesn't seem like a lot of food, but considering I used to skip breakfast and sometimes lunch, it seems like a ton.

I feel like I've been eating all day long. This makes me self-conscious because I am overweight. And I'm trying to eat healthy, so I don't want to just say "**** it" and grab a bag of chips or something...

I think part of it may be the fact that I'm now drinking over eight cups of water a day, but I know from past experience that you have to do this part in order to make your weight loss go smoothly.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Yeah I have. Only since Sept have I started calorie counting. I was 311 lbs, got to 230 with exercise only. I am 6'1 1/2

My limit is like 2800 or 3200 a day. To lose weight I should eat no less then 2300.

When I first started I was feeling pretty full myself with about 1500-1600. Eating healthy can really fill you up because good food like fruit and veggies have low amounts of calories for the same volume compared to trash food. Just look at 100 cals of a banana vs 100 cals of chips.

I used to eat less often, but higher calorie meals. So I too felt full through out the day. Eating at times when I was not exactly "hungry". But I knew I needed the cals. I wasn't as full as I was when I used to go to Chinese food buffet, just not really feeling that apple. But I eat it anyways for my afternoon snack.

I have now gotten up to 1800-2300 a day. However now that I am eating more smaller meals, I don't think I can fit as much in to my tummy. Try ti get closer to the your limit slowly.

Sometimes, yeah. I posted about it the other day I think. Some days I just eat enough that by the end of the day I'm not hungry and I have barely hit 1000 calories.

If that's the case, I do try to fit in some high calorie, healthy items. A nighttime snack of peanut butter on a single slice of whole grain bread (folded over in half) is a good high calorie, yet healthy snack. That's good for 300 or so calories.

I don't think it'll be an issue meeting my goal today, as my roomie cooked a delicious-smelling relatively high-calorie meal (potatoes, toast, flavored rice, and green beans) and he is currently on a wine run. And now I'm hungry!

I think maybe my body is still used to eating a large meal at suppertime and not eating during the day, but she's just gonna have to get used to a steady blood sugar level!!!

Thanks for the input guys!

I've heard that people who over eat sometimes do because they're hungry for nutrients, and not calories. If you're eating very nutrient dense foods, maybe your body is getting enough of what it needs?

One thing to note is that people who reduce their calorie intake drastically often have a period of depressed appetite at the beginning, but then find that their appetite comes back as their body adjusts to the new food balance.
