I weigh in first thing in the morning and whenever I feel like it throughout the day. I do a 'formal' weigh-in on Mondays for my ticker and on Fridays for the competition.
with weighing in... to keep yourself motivated... you should weigh in at the same time on a regular schedule wearing the same thing (or nothing at all) that way you should see consistent results...
My doctor always says to weigh in first thing in the morning the same time every week. My weigh in time in always first thing (6:30 a.m.) on Friday mornings. Evidently you weigh more in the afternoons.
Anything more than once every 2 weeks will drive you nuts. Don't be a slave to those pesky numbers. Judge your success by the way your clothes fit, the way you feel, the change in your eating habits, and compliments from others. The scale is not the only way to track your progress!
There are some studies that suggest people who weigh daily tend to lose more weight and are able to keep weight off longer then people who weigh daily.
That being said - there are studies to prove just about any position
If the fluctuations of weighing in daily drives you crazy, don't do it. It's not worth the possible 'demotivation' you can get from it.
If those daily fuctuations don't bother you, then there is nothing wrong with daily weighing. However, it is the downward progression we're generally wanting to see, and that takes time. So it might be better to take mental note of a daily weighing, but actually write your weight down weekly.
We're all very individual, and what motivates me might hinder someone else, you have to find what works best for you
I can see the benefits of both. Personally, I can not weigh myself everyday. That fluxuation is enough to make me get a little down and that influences my eating and exercising.
I have even lost sleep thinking about weighing in the morning! Sad, but true.
And for me, it's not about the numbers so much as it is about my size and healthy.
