I weight myself every morning. My doctor told me to do it only once a week, because you don't lose weight every day and you might get frustrated then. But nevertheless I do it, because I am so curious to know about my progress. Well, but this also means that I have to put up with the frustration which comes up from time to time when the scalle doesn't show me a change. Maybe I should really change my behaviour...

Morning,

I generally weigh myself once a day if I know my plateau has been broken, or once a week if it hasn't.

Enjoy,

Barbara

Curiosity killed the cat, yet I still do it every morning.

Daily weighing makes you aware of the normal fluctuations but also shows upward and downward trends based on our eating habits. We know that we will weigh more the morning after a bad day of eating so we should expect that the scale should be fluctuating upwards, and we know if we want to see the scale trend lower we need to be good with our eating. Very often the fluctuations have no rhyme or reason, but just as often they are highly reflective of our eating over the prior day or two. We know we can quickly get off weight that's just gone up from a bad day or two, but on the other hand, when the weight is not quickly going back down then we know its sticking and we need to get serious. I use the scale as a wake-up call / reality check .

I'm an every morning weigh-in person. I use it as a measure of how I've been doing, and when it's a little lower, or the same, as a reaffirmation that I'm not totally screwing up.

cool, that's interesting to see. I have never been the person to weigh myself everyday for the most part. Usually it's been once a week, but now it's once a month. after my first weigh in/measurements next week I will decide whether I want to weigh every 2 weeks (no sooner than that) or if I will just wait for once a month. It's hard to wait that long yet I don't get discouraged at the end of every week cause I haven't lost anything. Yet if I don't lose anything or enough in a month I might be VERY dissapointed, so we'll see.

As I'm nearing my goal, my weight change has slowed down to a crawl and weighing too often is too discouraging, so I'm only weighing myself once every 2nd week.

When should you weigh?

I weigh myself almost every day (at least 5 times a week). I have been weighing myself first thing in the am, after using the bathroom but before eating. I have always been under the impression that this is my "true weight," but I'm not sure now.

Is there a rule for finding your real weight? I used to try to weigh myself when I thought I'd be the lightest, just for the sake of self-esteem. Now I have found that I am actually the lightest in the evening, before dinner. So is THIS my true weight?

I know it doesn't really matter in the long run. You know when numbers go up and when they go down over time. Just wondering what you all do.

Thanks.

If I had a dime for every time this question gets asked here... I'd be very wealthy

what difference does it make what your "real" weight is?

What you want to do is weigh consistently -and not obsess over the number..it's just a number... only you and your doctor ever know what that number really is..

Weigh the same time at regular intervals wearing the same thing or nothing -and keep track of the change.

3500 calories = 1lb of fat -technically but 10 calories can make a difference in the scale...

Get a measuring tape and do that

Have you ever weighed yourself before AND after using the toilet? I find it hilarious!

This is a little off topic, but has anyone noticed a difference between your weight on say your scale at home, and those weird, scary, old looking scales at the doctors office?

I always weigh more on those stupid things.
