PMS Weight Gain

Does anyone else gain a lot of lbs in the week before their period? I gain upwards of 6lbs All fluid build up of course, but it can undermine your progress according to the scale.

Any comments?

I sure think it does. Don't weigh yourself till a few days afterwards.

I usually gain about 1-3lbs around my period... It all depends though. Sometimes my periods will be great. No bloating, no headaches.. no nothing. But then others... I'll bloat like there is no tomorrow.
It sucks, but unfortunatly something we just gotta live with hehe

yeah. before i had my second daughter i never had any type of pms symptoms. then all of sudden they just hit me and i had no idea what was going on with me. i felt kind of foolish, b/c all of my friends were saying..."no you're not crazy - it's just pms" and i had no idea. ha!

Do you want to know something funny? I have noticed that if I do not exercise for an entire week because of my period I do gain 1-3lb, but if I do my usual work out routine no matter how uncomfortable and painful it is i even mamage to loose couple of lb. Go figure . My triner once told me that women who work out ap o 6 time a week have less water weight gain and PMS sindrom on everage is very light.

I find the same thing... 2 or 3 lbs up even when I've worked out hard and eaten well. Very frustrating.

I just realised this today because I gained like 1.5 kils in a week and I didn't know why. Then I thought that it may be my period so I googled it and I was right!... hopefully lol

I used to gain between 5 and 7 pounds every month with TOM, but ever since I started drinking enough water, I don't gain anything. Granted, I don't LOOSE during that week at all, but I don't have a big water gain.

God Bless,
mik

I tend to gain about 5 pounds of water weight 2 weeks prior to the start os my period. Then when my period starts I become ravinous(sp?). I just want to eat. It is very difficult sometimes.

OH!!!!!!!! I gain about 5 lbs as well during the monthly visitor. I bloat something horrible and even if I work out my periods don't seem lighter nor do I ever seem less bloated. Guess it is something that must run in my family.

I rarely see any scale losses the week before my period or the week before I ovulate. The other two weeks, I usually see a lot of scale loss. Since I do the same thing all the time, I suspect water retention for the slow-scale parts of the month.

Oh yeah, this happens a lot. I just broke a 6 month plateau and lost 2.5 pounds last week, but this week I took a mid week weight in and I've gained about a pound of waht I lost back - i was distraught, but i realized it is PMS - this time I am going to work out right through my period - I tend to cramp slightly, so i wont do anything super intense, but just keep the rhythm going.

The good thing about PMS weight is that it comes right off after periods.. i hope that's the same with you guys?

I'm consistently 2-3 lbs heavier the week before, then when I get it I go right back down.

my cycles are not regular but I will know because I cant sleep and am ravenous so I probably truly am gaining some weight :-( but I also have about 3lbs at least of water weight that leaves again.
