advice please-do you think

hi well i'm not sure if this is in the right section but i didn't know were to put it.do you think i'm to heavy to horse ride?? i weigh 152lbs?
all opinions welcome. x becky

There are a lot of men who ride horses who would be heavier than you! I guess it depends on the horse to some degree, but I can't see a physical limitation for you.

Well done on your progress so far!

The answer is no, I've seen people FAR heavier than that riding. Those horses are STRONG, you've got to be pretty darn heavy to hurt them...look at the loads they can pull and/or carry. 152 pounds is definitely not going to hurt a horse.

i'm not sure where i got this tidbit of info - but most places the maximum for the comfort of the horse, is 250lbs - so you're well under that...

have you ever seen the cherokee kid with sinbad???? you can definitely ride horses. i've ridden horses and i'm way heavier than you also. and actually...i was way heavier then when i rode. sure..have it it! have fun!

I went riding with some friends last summer at 230 so um as uncomfortable as i probably made the horse feel its doable.

thanks guy.i've been riding for years,the thought didn't cross my mind until recently when i bought me nw horse.i hate it when i go to showjumping competitions and people stare at me,as if i'm some kind of monster. x becky

My answer seems a bit late, but no, you're definitely not too heavy for horse riding.
I'm in the 170's and I have a house at a hill station where I go at least 6 or 7 times a year, and I always go horse riding. Not even on some special strong horse, but on any. And I've seen many people heavier than me riding. Horses are very strong.
