Rep Power: 0 | | | Men lose weight faster than Women? Hi There - I remember reading that men actually lose weight much easier and quicker than women do. Is this right? If so, why so? Seems unfair to me, but I wont be doing any complaining |

Rep Power: 15 | | I dunno, I know two very healthy women, one of which is my wife, who lost weight lickety split after childbirth. It wasn't easy, but they did it. Not to offend any women here, but it has been my experience that men are simply better able to have the mental toughness to make sacrifices and to stay focused and motivated. The women I know who have this same mental toughness have been able to lose weight just as quickly as any man, but there's just not very many of them. This is partially why I tend to be a little harsh and straightforward when it comes to weight loss attitudes. I've seen what women can do when they get aggressive about it. It would amaze you. The men and mentally aggressive women don't mind bluntness, and they're the ones who are usually the most successful. |

Rep Power: 15 | | I really don't think it's the muscle factor, from a genetic/existence standpoint. I've seen studies that show that for an average sized person, when adding a massive amount of muscles, the muscles alone only burn about an extra 24 calories per day. That's about a rate of dropping one extra pound every 5 months. It's not that the muscles EXIST, it's that the muscles get USED. |

Also men typically have a higher metabolism than women due to the amount of muscle on their bodies. This is often due to the fact that women fear gaining muscle and becoming masculine. This causes them to do alternate workouts such as the treadmill that do not give them an increased muscle/fat ratio, thus they are stuck in a cycle of losing and gaining calories that is a nearly impossible battle to win.
