Slimming the waist w/o losing lbs???

I was flipping through channels when I was watching tv, and something caught my eye. This woman had something like a 17 in. waist. She held the guiness world record for the smallest waist, all with the help of a corsette. Not the frilly, lacey lingerie... but the real-deal tying yourself up to the point where you can't breathe. Has anyone tried this? I've tried looking for one online, but I only found a couple with sketchy testimonials. One is made of the basic cloth-like material and the other out of rubber. I live in the U.S. and have no idea where to get one. Any ideas guys?

Be careful...

I wouldn't suggest waist-training unless you have knowledge about it, or if you're going to be supervised by someone who does. You can do serious damage to your body if you try to push things too far too fast. It takes years of painful training to begin to inch in, bit by bit. It's not a quick-fix at all, and it doesn't change the overall look of your body. Fat will not dissapear.

Though corsets *are* pretty :P If you're still really interested, trying looking up waist-training, but don't have high hopes at changing your body immediately with corsets...

Well you have to remember that these women probably don't pack on the pounds around the waist anyways. Corsets to the extent of use you're describing will physically alter the layout of the ribcage and organs in the lower chest and stomach area. Nasty side effects only begin with constipation and frequent blackouts due to poor lung expansion. You're better off with diet and exercise.

Waist-training -- gee, that sure sounds like a healthy thing to do!

A technique bodybuilders often use is stomach vaccumes, look into it if you're really going to try something like this.
But something that forces your body like that, can't be good.

The invention of the fainting couch? That happened because of corsets.

You are not only constricting your waist, but the organs within that waist.

For what?

It's funny you should mention this.

I used to think a corset would help cinch in my humongous stomach and make me look sexier. I even ordered one from ebay but it was too big and I felt (and looked) stupid in it.

There really is no point cinching your waist in, not being able to breathe, all for the sake of looking like you'd look anyway with the help of some exercise and a good diet - that's the conclusion I've come to. After years of holding in my stomach to appear slimmer (and I couldn't breathe all the while) I've said screw that. I want to be comfortable and wear comfortable things and still look good. I don't want to have to wear specially engineered clothes to make myself look slimmer - it doesn't exactly work with my big boobs and thunder thighs anyway.

It's up to you if you want to go ahead with this. But just realise it's not all it's hyped up to be.
