Does anyone find it hard to loose during that special week? Im a little discouraged because i had lost 21 pounds the first 2 weeks of my lifestyle change. And then during the week of my period...only 1 pound. What's with it?

First of all congratulations on your 21 pound wt loss...21 pounds in 2 weeks wow amazing...is that safe though...
Now for your question; yes I find it hard to loose during that week I read somewhere that due to harmonal changes during your periods your body does not tend to loose any wt...but you still managed to loose a pound..so thats not bad ..i know it is nothing compared to the 10.5 pounds u lost in a week...but thats the way our womens bodies work....

Thank you I dont know..i kind of thought the same thing. I eat my 1200 cal..and i work out every day. I do the eliptical for 40 minutes keeping my heart rate from 160-170. It just came off. But, I know the first few pounds is mostly water weight. Then when i stepped on the scale feeling like i should have lost like 5 pounds and only saw one pound gone...just frusterated me. I thought it might have been my period but wanted to check in here and see if anyone had experienced the same. Glad that you have too Makes me feel better!

I heard that depending on what time of the month it is you can weight 2-3pounds more than usual, but this naturally fixes itself when your body goes back to normal. Apparently you retain more water during that week or something. When my weight was fairly stable I would weight myself during my period and then a fortnight after and find there was a pattern of weight gain and loss (only 1kg).

Okay I can be so good until I hit that time of the month. All I want to do is eat and I don't even care about exercise. This is the time every month when I eat like crap because I feel like crap. Does anyone else experience this? I'm trying hard not to cave as I'm approaching that dreaded time again. Can anyone give me some advice on how to get past this? Does anyone else do the same thing as me? I need some help here.
Thanks

I get some terrible cravings when it's that time of the month. Chocolate, salty stuff, god somebody just feed me! To get through it, I normally will go buy a little ice cream that isn't high in calories and have one of those. If I really need something bad, I'll have a bite-size candy bar.
I've learned, with myself, if I have a little to satisfy the craving it's easier to stay away from it.
But if you really want something THAT bad, have it. It's all about a lifestyle change and everyone needs a splurge every once and awhile. Just don't go overboard.
Hope you get through it. =) Be strong. Remember, nothing taste as good as skinny feels.

Yes, chocolate cravings...BAD BAD chocoloate cravings...I wait as long as I can, but eventually I have to have that Reese's Peanut Butter Cup!! I try to drink extra water during that time, and I try to find healthy things to satisfy my cravings--the South Beach Chocolate Bars work pretty good to curb the chocolate--they have a rich taste to them...high in protein too!!

One more thing---Pamprin has 12 hour pills that are like a miracle pill!! Will help with the crappy feelings and everything that goes with that...take 2 when it starts, and then one--it says every 12 hours, but I need it like very 6...but this is the first pill I have ever taken for it that acutally does help with all of it...They are in a bluish/purple box..they say Pamprin Max...

hey guys, that is also the time of the week that even if i'm eating healthy i don't lose because of all the crappy things that go on with my body...but usually by the end of the week...if i've been good, i will lose -- keep that in mind!

I hear you, but I think I have the opposite problem. I lose leading up to TOM, then maintain during, and gain after. It's usually about a week after TOM starts that I start to binge - chocolate mainly, sometimes cheese. However since starting here, I have manage to survive my first TOM, where I gained maybe 1lb. Hoping for the same results the 2nd time around.
As for feeling crappy and crampy, I try to get my sit ups in and that usually helps relieve any discomfort. Walking helps too. Really any form of exercise, whether you want to or not, helps relieve any discomfort.
Good Luck!

shoot yeah! it gets crazy. though, i have a med from the doc now that's helping with pmdd and my cravings are now limited to just two to three days versus the two weeks i was dealing with before the meds. it's really hard. though, this past month i actually did well with the meds and when i was craving..i ate it, but had a healthier version. for instance - i wanted pizza...BAD....so i made some wheat dough, used low-fat cheese (lightly) lots of veggies and a few pieces of turkey pepperoni. that way the whole family would eat it and i didn't do too bad....well, not as bad as i would have if i had ordered one..ya know? so i try to think of healthier ways to cook what i want when i know those times are coming.
as for chocolate, i don't have a huge problem with that, but i try to drink chocolate milk or i've heard recently, that if you eat a citrus fruit in place of the chocolate it will help to eliminate that chocolate craving. i've yet to try this advice, but i'm interested to know if it works.
it's a very hard time, but just work through it. whatever i gain in water during that week (and maybe from some bad food choices) it's usually gone the following week and i feel back to "normal". good luck!

I totally feel your pain!

I soooo know what you mean! During that week I could eat everything, even the chair I'm sitting on. It is horrible. Plus, two or three undesired and unrequested kgs appear to have decided to keep you company during this depressing week...fortunately they go away once it's over, but I'm careful never to weigh during that period or I get so depressed I eat more to cheer up a bit.

Thank you so much girls for all your replies. I'm glad to know that I'm not alone. I thought maybe I just had the worst will power or something. I think from now on I'm going to hide the scale and avoid stepping on it during that time of the month. You all had some great advice.

I think most women gain between 3-5 pounds during TOM but I'm happy to read that we all know it's just water weight and that is really doesn't reflect our actual weight.
Sometimes we just drive ourselves crazy with weight and all that other mumbo jumbo but as long as we keep it all in perspective we'll be ok.
