Stopped losing

I was on a good weight loss role when it came to a hault. I lost around 30 pounds in 2 months. Over the last 2 weeks I am gaining weight. Nothing has changed in my diet or exersize plan. I am just frustrated that I am no longer losing weight. THis has been my problem in the past and why I quit dieting before.

This happens to all of us! I understand the frustration and it is very easy to give up at this point but if you stick with it you will see weight loss again. I've heard many reasons why our bodies get "stuck". Myself once I noticed this happening to me I had to get back to the basics and really count my calories and watch what I'm eating again. I also had to try to up my calorie intake a bit. I also changed my workouts. Also remember if you are working out that muscle weighs more then fat.

Don't give up You will get over that hump it just may take you a bit to figure out what will help you.

I even heard once that once we get to weights we may have weighed in the past that our bodies get stuck there too.. True or not I'm not sure For all the times I've dieting, loosing and gaining I do not remember all my previous weights as I usually avoided a scale.

I know with working out if you stick the same routine all the time your body does get use to it.

Try to change a few things around and see if that helps.

Good luck but don't give up!

I have been hitting the cardio alot harder the last 2 weeks. It's almost like I am retaining water or something. I drink well over a gallon a day. I don't know what it is but it is so damn frustrating.

Try drinking more water to flush your body or changing the workout routine (your body may have gotten used to it)

Could it just be your monthly?

It is possible, muscles need water So if you are working out alot you might need more then the standard amount. 64 ozs is the normal amount for people who don't work out daily like most of us, Try to up that a bit too Its horribly frustrating and we all know it can be a easy time to give up. You are probably loosing some inches I bet? It may not show on a scale but how do you feel? Pants fit better? Anything other things you might notice?

wishes if its my monthly. We have bigger problems than weight loss.
I do feel alot better and i was very confident until I started gaining weight. My pants do fit better I am more flexible and I can see more Muscle tone but It is still frustrating to see the scale go up a little every day.

Do you work out the same as you did several months ago? How long have you been doing your current exercise plan. I know when I upped my exercising I gained a bit or didnt' loose as much. But I think everyone goes through that area as stated before muscle weighs more then fat. So you are probably loosing body fat and gaining muslce so the pounds just aren't showing..

Anyways I'm here to support you! Don't give up! Look at the positive things you said, Your pants fit better, muscle tone, and flexibility. I remember the smallest things like when putting on my shoes wasn't such a chore because I couldn't actually bend over comfortably! Or being able to cross my legs. More then just a number on a scale is changing on our bodies.

Looks as though my weight loss may have just gotten side tracked. I have lost 3 pounds this week. I think I ate too much salty crap and was retaining a bunch of water.

If you find yourself retaining water, try drinking a glass of hot lemon water. Flush your system of that salt and what not.

Plateau?

I am starting to get discouraged. I have reached a plateau and am not losing any more weight. Does anyone know how long it typically lasts before I start losing again?

Does it help if I cut my calories even further and exercise more fervently?

I from personal experience have not cut calories further as I feel I am already in enough of a deficit calorie wise. I feel that cutting calories further would result in muscle loss and not fat loss. I eat between 1700 and 2200 a day, sometimes a little more on the weekend when I am working in the yard all day long.
SOme say don't cut too far but I have had to cut many more calories than suggested to loose fat. I think it is different for everyone. Try changing up your routine. Lift more weights and do less cardio. Switch machines up keep your body guessing. Don't give it a reason to shut down though.
I have been right where you are and have gotten over the plateau this time. It feels great.
I am losing weight faster than suggested also but it is fat not muscle as I take measurements and see more muscle tone. I lose between 4 and 6 pounds a week just depends on how much time I spend working out. I work out between 2 and 4 hours a day. 5 days a week.
HOpe this helps.

Good tips. I always tend to lose a LOT of weight quickly and then just STOP for about 2 weeks. I do find though that as long as I continue working out and dieting, my waist or stomach gets smaller though the pounds don't really show it

Just need to get that going again

I hate platueas (sp?). But the best is getting past them because you can look at those as points of no return. You're committed to your newer healthier weight range.

15lbs in a month, 4lbs a week... Pretty heavy loss there, eat more! Eating more "can" help you lose Try going about 250kcal under maintenance for a while, or even go to maintenance, maybe a month, let your body adjust to a nice number of calories, then take some away, should get the ball rolling again!
