| Sushi is the vinegared white rice, but in the US has become the catch all term for that branch of cuisine. The main complaint is the white rice as it is a refined simple carb. The sashimi, or raw fish, portion is quite healthy as it's a good source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids.
California rolls are "fake" sushi, or amazingly Americanized. It's imitation crab (cooked and formed white fish), cucumber, avocado, and sometimes mayo. The mayo, avocado and white rice make it fairly calorie dense in comparison to traditional sushi and sashimi, so be aware.
