Been there, done that, got the t-shirt..
So I suppose you're supposed to be altruistic when you sign up for various 5K, 8K, 10K etc charity events... But the reality is - that the whole reason why the majority of the people sign up for said events, whether it's to run or to walk is to sport the really cool t-shirt you get for completing the event.
