My weight loss has currently stalled so I might not be the best person to be giving you advice right now! But if you want answers to specific questions you might try the 'on topic' or 'harsh truth' forums.
Anyways welcome on board and good luck reaching your goals!

For many of us here, including me, calorie counting and exercise have been the best way to go. It sounds like you're doing well with the exercise side of things (swimming is great exercise, by the way), so your next step is to take a look at what you're eating, and make sure you're not taking in too many (or too few) calories.
I'm down over 140 from watching calories - not letting them get too low or too high - drinking lots of water and walking regularly -with some other exercises thrown in for good measure...
but watching the diet and knowing what you are eating, in my mind, is essential...

Hey girl and welcome to the forum, I started out at a hefty 298, ( naked and after i peed and blew out all my air!! ) now i weigh 186, and i did it by moving more through walking and swimming and the occasional Video, and i recently added weight lifting to my routine, I also do portion controll, this was the hardest thing for me to do over all!!!! I mean eating a ton of healthy stuff was terrible too, so i have to read packages to find out what a "portion" size is.......... !!!
also i just eat healthy foods, wheat, low fat dairy, friuts and veggies, nuts, ect ya know the pyramid thing!!!! Mostly just keep going one day at a time........It is just how it is........no miricales now majic potions..........just day to day perstistence.......the days go by anyway and you can either be fatter or thinner, thats what i tell myself every day!!!!!!
good luck sister and keep on posting here because it does really work!!!
later dude STAR

My daughter is on a swim team and they swim 60-80 laps across the 25yd width of an olympic pool - and OMG what a work out! The kid is STARVING when she gets out of the water LOL!
Taking care of that knee is a good thing and swimming sounds like a great alternative to walking!

Your telling me lol I wanna eat anything and everything lol... I eat subs alot after I swim subs are better then what I used to eat lol... But ya are pool is just one at a YMCA but it's big and the laps are some times hard but i have to push myself it takes me about an hour a day right now to do that meny... I see people go so much faster ( some dont ) but then I think if I was 140 I would go that fast too I had 200 on top of that when I started so I think i'm doing well for the work out part ( I love to swim )but I think it's just the fact if I put on any weight I get upset and eat I need to stop that. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do and it's only been 20 lbs LOL.. I joined weight watchers BUT I dont go anymore just cause I like to please to many people and it's way to much right now getting back on my feet after my car crash.. and I wanna loss like 2-4 a week if not more for them and if I dont I feel so bad and I stress out ( thats all I need is another stresser ) so I'm just going to do it on my own WITH THE HELP OF YOU GUYS

Really make sure you don't drop your calories ridiculously low - you want to find a balance between losing at a healthy and sustainable time table and still live your life.
Looking down the barrel of long term weightloss is overwhelming - but it is NOT impossible. You CAN do it - just keep focused on your goals!

That's so true they didnt teach much about that I do have a point thing each day I have to go by for weight watchers for eating and to tell you the truth it makes sence to me. So I do go by that but I'm also looking into what your telling me too cause on weight watchers I do eat about the same amount as what it says I should and I can eat whatever I want but not as much as I used to insted of 5 peaces of pizza lol I have 2 lol... But I just need people to talk to and I think this has to be one of the best places out here YESSS
