We're here to help support you! I think support is a big thing in weight loss but it sounds like you're getting along just fine at this point, but we're here for ya..
No one gets negative posts here! That defeats the point of this forum! We are here for support, help and maybe suggestions to make things better, like some people here maintain that too low cals will make your matabolism slow down and they may suggest that you should up your cal intake etc... but no one will critizise, no one will judge!
Many of us experienced criticism and judging too much out there, this is our haven!
I also welcome you to your own diary. Write what you feel and what you eat, this way you will know if you are doing things right!
Love, xxMilaxx
To me, eating 1500 or more calories feels like I'm just ruining what I've already lost (around 11 lbs). But, eating that much and exercising makes sense. I've been going about it all wrong. Maybe not, since I've lost 11 pounds, but that won't carry on if my metabolism slows down.
I definitely need to get up and do more exercise!
My boyfriend brought over a dance mat, and thats quite good, but I'm so lame at it.. I miss lots of steps! -blush-
I've had no energy to do anything except walking, which I was obligated to do. If I up my calories to 1500, but also try exercising a lot, I'll have more energy.
It's gonna be difficult for me to eat and not feel guilty, but boy will I love eating more. I've been starving! So.. today, so far!
BREAKFAST: Baked beans on white (bread) toast.
= 170 calories exactly.
My problem is that I need something warm and tasty when I wake up, which is why I have beans on toast. Usually I have porridge, but its just not enough to satisfy.
I definitely eat too much bread, but its all there is really. I need some recipes that arent too hard or take too long to make, but are yummy.
I think I'll have some mackerel in tomato sauce. Fish is apparently good for when you have womanly problems. I read that somewhere.. Note to self: Look into that.
No doubt I'll be posting later about what I ate. I've been obsessed with calculating everything I eat.
Hi Becky,
Again, welcome to the WLF and to having your own diary
This truly is a great place to find support.
Congratulations on the weight you've lost so far! Sometimes, losing that much in the first month does WONDERS for our motivation - nothing spurs success quite like success
You'll figure out your calories - give yourself the time to work it through. Realize, that you'll have to find a way to live/eat that can work long term - this isn't something you do until you get to a certain weight, but it's something you'll be doing for the rest of your life - so in order to not be my age and trying to get weight off, learning how to live with and manage your intake now is invaluable!!
You said a couple of things I wanted to comment on...
Quote:
My family and boyfriend say they're proud if I lose weight, but they don't help me get there. They eat junk foods that I want to eat in front of me. It's hard, and I've talked to them about it. Only time will tell if they will support me.
It's hard not to see this as 'them not being supportive' but in actuallity, I think this is them being the them they've always been. (At least that's how it's been in my house.) My husband is not being insensitive when he goes to a fast food place, he's just doing what he's always done - I've been the one to change - and because it's a change I am freely making and proud that I've made it, I don't let it bother me what he's eating.

Don't let guilt fuel your choices - guilt is entirely over rated. It's hard to eat so little because your body is telling you you need more food!
You'll figure this all out - just be kind to yourself - losing weight is a slow process - but it is DOABLE
^ Thanks for the advice and support I appreciate it. I'll definitely look at those websites too!
I know I can't expect everyone else to do what I'm doing.. but it'd be nice if they didn't buy me sweets and junk foods anymore. I've asked them, so maybe it'll work.
ANYWAY :O Today was great. I had so much food and didn't feel bad for it!!!
SO much more than what I've been having recently. Unsure if its any good, but I'm happier than before.
Beans on toast - 170
Apple - 60
Mackerel in tomato sauce, on bread - 226
2 Jabobs crackers and spreadable cheese - 95
Tuna and sweetcorn sandwich on brown malted bread - 285
Baked potato crisps/chips - 90 calories (were 99, shared a few :P)
Vanilla ice cream cone - 250ish
Vegetable Stir Fry (shared with two others) - 133 calories
= 1309. I feel like this is too much food though. I did a fair amount of walking, more than normal on a saturday (boyfriend gets his dads car), spent quality time with my boyfriend. I feel like as long as I burned 300 or so, I'm happy.
I think tomorrow, I'll try to include more fruit and milk. And definitely water!
Yesterday, I thought what I ate that day was dreadful. If I take out the ice cream or crisps, it doesnt seem that bad. I had things that are good for me. Bread, beans, fish, cheese, vegies, fruit. I'd have been happier if I did more exercise, so I'm gonna try it today.
So far I've had one slice of white bread, half a can (200grams) of plum tomatoes, a 200ml glass of milk and an apple that i mostly shared with my dog.
Out comes the calculator again. Roughly 275. If I don't know the exact amount, I usually round it off to the nearest suitable number. So, 280. That way, I don't end up eating more calories than I should, but less.
Whats for lunch? I'm gonna have a look around for a nice recipe. I wouldn't mind trying something new.
Today I tried sushi for the first time! Most of it was nice, but the wasabi :O Hot, and I didn't like the texture or taste. I wouldn't buy it again. Only 210 calories though.
After that my boyfriend and I went to a golf driving range. I hit the ball and somehow it went behind me and almost smacked someone in the face! -dies- It was bad.
Then, we went for an hour long walk around a lake in the pouring rain. I burned off calories, so it was worth getting my hair wet and frizzy.
I've just had dinner, which was hot pot (a stew of meat, vegetables and potatoes), which was 300 calories.
The potatoes filled me up quite a bit, but I have a huge craving for chocolate. I've not had any in quite a while..
I'm gonna clean up my two rooms right now and burn off some extra calories before my boyfriend comes over. I might have a little treat later on just so I don't end up binge-eating later.
OH! I forgot I'm getting a treadmill in a few weeks!!!
I'm not sure whether to spend £250 on a motor-powered one, or £100 for a manual one. I might make a thread about this in the right place, I would like peoples opinions.
YAY!! Another Becky in here!!! You're off to a good start!!! Having used a treadmill in the past for weightloss, I suggest a motorized one. You can increase and decrease speed easily. Plus most of them have incline on them to make "hills" in your workout!!
We only have semi-skimmed milk today. Skimmed is 75 calories per 200 ml. Semi-skimmed is 94 per 100 ml!
Breakfast today is ready brek (oatmeal, porridge) - 245 calories.
I could have had my favourite (beans on toast) for less!
I only put one sweetener in it this time. Is it bad for you? I was thinking of trying to cut it out, get used to no sugar.
I'll be taking a nice walk to Tesco soon for some frozen veges, but I'm wondering what else to have with it. It is raining, but I won't bother straightening my hair. It's already curly from last nights walk in the rain!
I'll have to wash my coat from the 2 hour walk on the sandy muddy beach a while ago. It's been nice weather so I havent needed it. I should burn more calories doing that, haha.
That reminds me.. I need a new coat. Mine has always been too big for me, but now its even bigger. ^_^ I think I'll wait it out till I'm a size 12 maybe? My size 14 jeans that I've only just recently bought, and are my fave jeans, are getting a bit loose too. Must wear a belt.
I'll go after my lunch so I can burn that off, plus I have to get ready.
Then, come home and clean my room, my den (computer, tv) room.
I might as well clean the bathroom too, and brush up the wooden floors, and vacuum the carpet.
After dinner I'll go on the dance mat for a while.
Breakfast: 50 gram porridge with semi-skimmed milk (235 cals)
Lunch: Alphabetti Spaghetti on one slice of toast with poached egg (247 cals)
Dinner: Frozen (but cooked obviously) veggies, added broccoli and potatoes (300 cals)
Cheat: Three slices of Terry's Chocolate Orange (140 cals)
^ There goes my 21 day without snacks challenge. After one day! LOL
I don't feel like 922 cals is enough. I did a LOT of walking though, for around 2 hours. Dave (my boyfriend) and I got a taxi back to mine, cause we were tired, and he realised he'd left my Geckos Meal Worms in the store. So, we walked back, and got a taxi back. I felt blah for the taxi's. but meh. I did a lot of walking, more than usual! Plus before I went out I cleaned up the house a lot, so that was a plus.
I think I burned more than I ate for breakfast, lunch and some dinner.
I might have something now to give me more cals and fill me up (veggies are mostly water lol), and then have a go on the dance mat/do some exercises.
