HEY, weighed today, i scored liek 191.4 and its awesome feeling. But after allt he excitement the sad part is that i woke up like 12 at noon and later watched few movies ( Mission Impossible 3 n Office Season 2..) n I am kinda tired of lying down n watching movies...It causes pain in my lower back n butt..
N I diagnosed a new condition in me.. I guess i have a temparo mandibular joint dislocation( Jaw dislocation).. its kinda odd to see it dislocated everytime i open my mouth wide...It never happened before..
My diet n Anti smoking regime is going quite well.. I dont have any urges or thoughts of smoking. I am having lil bit more tired mebbe this is the withdrawal.. or i jst dont wanna do anything creative...I hate my study chair as it doesnt support my back very well. its hard to sit or long hours on it...I didnt go to the lib today as i wanted to go to hosp.. but somehow i missed it.. So.. No walking or no creative work.. i wud change my plan for tomorrow and make sure i do follow my Rules...
Goals for may 25 to June 2
GO LIB
Walk 2 Miles
No Smoking n maintain control on diet
8 to 5 study time.... follow it as ur religion..
Anyways, the new goal that came to my attention is focussing on Non Surfing hours. It did help me last time but as soon i got over with my exam it was hard for me to follow. Lets see how i do this time.
Over n out...

Rep Power: 0 | | JAMA -- Abstract: High-dose nicotine patch therapy. Percentage of replacement and smoking cessation, November 1, 1995, Dale et al. 274 (17): 1353
--A 44-mg/d dose of nicotine patch therapy appears to be safe for use in heavy smokers. Cigarette smoking rates can be used to estimate the initial nicotine patch dose. Monitoring blood cotinine levels at baseline and steady state can be used for assessing the adequacy of nicotine replacement. Withdrawal symptom relief can be improved with more complete nicotine replacement. Achieving a greater percentage of nicotine replacement may increase the efficacy of nicotine patch therapy Inverse relation between serum cotinine concentration and blood pressure in cigarette smokers -- Benowitz and Sharp 80 (5): 1309 -- Circulation
Blood pressure is, on average, lower in cigarette smokers than in nonsmokers. In a cross-sectional study of 288 normotensive bus drivers, we found a significant inverse correlation between serum cotinine (the major metabolite of nicotine) and systolic and diastolic blood pressure that could not be accounted for by age, body weight, or alcohol consumption. Over the observed range of cotinine values, the average decrease in blood pressure was 10.7 and 7.0 mm Hg for systolic and diastolic blood pressures, respectively. We suggest that cotinine be measured to assess the influence of cigarette smoking in epidemiologic studies of blood pressure.

Rep Power: 0 | | CONCLUSIONS: Nicotine patch therapy was not found to be associated with indications of fetal compromise during the in-hospital phase of nicotine patch therapy in pregnant smokers who were abstaining. Although not conclusive because of the small sample sizes, serum nicotine levels (morning and afternoon) appear similar in pregnant and nonpregnant subjects and similar for both groups when smoking (baseline) as compared to the steady state of nicotine patch use. American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology - Abstract: Volume 181(3) September 1999 p 736-743 Nicotine patch use in pregnant smokers: Nicotine and cotinine levels and fetal effects. SpringerLink - Journal Article
Transdermal nicotine has been shown to relieve nicotine withdrawal and to double smoking cessation rates compared to placebo in clinical trials. A 21 or 22 mg/day dose provides a steady state serum nicotine that is less than obtained from smoking. Limited information is available about higher nicotine patch doses. To define better the optimal dosing of nicotine patch therapy, we undertook an open-label study to determine the safety and tolerability of 44 mg/day dose for smoking cessation in subjects smoking 20 cigarettes per day. Forty smokers received 44 mg/day of transdermal nicotine for 4 weeks followed by 4 weeks of 22 mg/day. Of the 40 subjects enrolled, 38 (95%) completed the 4 weeks of 44 mg patch therapy and 36 (90%) completed the entire 8 weeks of patch therapy. Non-smokers at week 4 had a mean serum nicotine level of 23.4±11.7 ng/ml and cotinine of 152.2±87.3 ng/ml. Percent replacement was calculated by dividing the steady state level at week 4 by the baseline level while the subjects were smoking their usual number of cigarettes. Percent nicotine replacement for non-smokers at week 4 (while on 44 mg nicotine patch) averaged 158%±108.4, and for cotinine was 112.0±73.8. For nicotine, 33% of non-smokers at week 4 had 100% nicotine replacement and for cotinine 63% 100% replacement. Biochemically confirmed point prevalence smoking cessation rates were 65% and 55% at weeks 4 and 8 of patch therapy, respectively, and self-reported smoking cessation at 3 months was 50%. The most common effect was skin irritation at the patch site. A single subject was admitted for myocardial infarction following step-down from 44 to 22 mg of replacement nicotine. The subject was not smoking and the adverse event was deemed to be not related to the patch therapy. Sleep complaints were reported in 33% of subjects during the 44 mg phase. Other complaints were infrequent. We conclude that 44 mg per 24-h nicotine patch therapy in heavy smokers is safe, tolerable, and without significant adverse events. |

i WAS LIKE 186 few days back..now i have reached to 190 coz of my cheats. used three cheats on consecutive days as a result of which i gained till 191. now for the past two days, iam back on my diet regime.
I did take few extra steps past mth like quitting smoking and going out for a walk. I finished out of the difficult assignments in my life. finished working on my thesis. Now all i have 2 do is read for my exam n lose weight.
Iam expecting to reach atleast 184 by the end of this month. iam very much sure that its acheivable as i i reach 186 few days back.

I have reached a new milestone as i have been able 2 stay away from smoke for more than 1 mth.. thats neat..
i think if i continue the same rate, i shld be able 2 reach my ideal weight before the end of this year for sure. iam certainly happy with my success and willingness 2 reach my target weight.
