Today I did weights and light cardio which puts me at 5 workouts so far this week. I did the same weights I did last time but added doing pushups on a stability ball and boy was that hard. If you would have seen how bad I was wobbling you'd of thought there was an earthquake. I can already tell i'm going to be sore in the morning. I struggled to do just 5 push ups each set. These shoulders of mine are just so ridiculously loose it makes it near impossible.

10x curls 25lbs.
10x front arm raises 8lbs.
10x lat pull ups 20lbs.
10x chest flys 20lbs.
10x dumbbell benchpress 20lbs.
10x reverse flys 8lbs.
5x Push ups on stability ball
10 minutes on eliptical
Repeat x2

I feel really accomplished. This is the first time in forever that i've worked out 5 times in a week and I feel good about myself for doing it. I really think that joining the WLF community was just the thing I needed to give me that little extra drive I was missing. Even though I can't physically see any progress yet, mentally I've made huge progress. I'm just overall happier this week.

Well the first part of my last name sounds like tusk and one day at lunch when I was in high school one of my friends was trying to get my attention and called me Sammy Tusk. The name just kind of stuck and since then alot of my friends will just call me Tusk.

Sorry you hit a rough patch in life. We all do. I think what's most important for you for not only your weightloss, but also your sanity, is getting a grip on your thought processes. It seems like you are doing a pretty good job of that. Try and pay attention to the things that "little voice" is saying inside that head of yours.

Things really start to change for the better when we start listening to that voice. Better yet, things really start to improve once you start CORRECTING that voice.

With regards to the training, I would focus on more compound lifts.

And with the nutrition, if the weight doesn't start heading down more consistently, you MIGHT want to get a little more strict with either what you eat or how you track it.

Hey steve, thanks for the advice. I totally agree with you about getting a grip on my thought process. I can be my own worst enemy when I stop believing in myself and start having pity parties like i've been doing these past few years.

Now when you say more compound lifts what do you mean?

After resting friday and saturday I worked out again today. I did 2.79 miles at resistance lvl. 9 in 30 minutes. I weighed myself this morning and i'm down to 221 lbs. so i'm feeling extra motivated now that the scale is showing some results. I'm feeling great about myself and those 38 waist shorts I just bought are already falling off me without a belt. If I can keep going at the pace i'm at right now i'll reach my goal in another 5-6 weeks.

Today I didn't feel like working out so it took a little extra effort to get it done but I did it and felt great afterwards. I did 2.73 miles at resistance lvl. 9 in 30 minutes.

Even though I haven't reached my goal yet I feel so much better about myself. I am actually getting my self confidence back and it feels really good. My anxiety has become noticeably better. I have been able to go out with friends with little to no discomfort.

Here is this weeks picture at 221lbs:

Yesterday was my weight day and it was one of my best workouts so far. My friend wanted to workout with me so he started off on the elliptical while I did my first set of weights and we switched off for 3 sets of each.

I would have posted last night but I went out with a bunch of friends and got ridiculously drunk. When I woke up this morning I decided i'm not going to drink anymore until I reach my goal. With the exeption of my friends 22nd birthday party at the lake on june 9th. which brings me to my newest goal. I've decided that from now till june 9th i'm going to step up my workouts so I can fit into my swimsuit and not feel self conscious with my shirt off. I weigh 221lbs. right now and have about a 37 inch waist line. On the morning on june 9th I want to weigh no more then 210lbs. with a 34 inch waist line. So that means i'm aiming to loose 5 lbs. a week for the next few weeks. To achieve this in a healthy way i'm going to start doing the elliptical 2 times a day for 30 minutes on sunday, monday, wednesday, and friday. I'll keep doing everything else the same because I don't want to burn myself out. These past few weeks i've proven to myself that I still have it in me to achieve any goal I set out for myself so i'm very confident I am going to be where I want to be on june 9th.

I'm getting ready to get on the elliptical right now so i'll post my time for that tomorrow.

Sam,
here's a routine that Steve helped me with:

Weights "A"

BB Squat 5 x 5
Bench Press 5 x 5
Pullups 5 x 5
Stdg. Military Press 3 x 5
DB Row 3 x 5
Swiss Ball Crunch 3 x 10

Weights "B"

BB Squat 5 x 5
Incl. DB Press 5 x 5
Deadlift 4 x 5
BB Row 5 x 5
Chinups 4 x 5
Reverse Crunch 3 x 10

I alternate between "A" and "B" every 4 days. These routines all work compound muscle groups, which is a good way to keep your muscle mass while losing weight, without getting too fatigued.

I don't know if something like this would work for you, but it's done wonders for me.

So tomorrow I start my 2 a day elliptical workouts. I haven't missed a scheduled workout yet and I don't plan on missing one anytime soon. I'm way to determined to reach my goal.

I haven't been able to sit down and make a good post in a couple of days. I had a real hectic weekend with work and was always worn out by the time I got home. Anyways I took friday and saturday off from working out as planned. I was at work all day today and was starting to doubt I'd even be able to get 1 workout in. I got home lay down on my bed and turned the tv planning on just going to sleep. All it took was a commercial to come on with people wearing swimsuits and 5 minutes later I was on the elliptical working up a sweat.

I did 3.01 miles at resistance lvl. 10 in 30 minutes. Today was a big day for me because resistance lvl. 10 is the maximum resistance my elliptical goes to. So from now on instead of turning the resistance up I am going to add on time to my workouts.

After my workout I had a feeling I hadn't felt in quite awhile. I felt a slight smile start to form on my face and then I realized what it was I was feeling. Confidence, it's finally coming back to me.

Tomorrow is picture day and weigh in day and i'm really excited to see my progress. Hopefully I'll be able to get 2 workouts in like I said I would.

Yesterday I weighed in at 219lbs. so thats another 2 lbs. down. This week i'm really aiming to lose 5 lbs. but as long as i'm losing weight i'll still be happy. I did 3 miles at resistance lvl. 10 in 30 minutes yesterday.

Here is this weeks picture at 219lbs.

Today it seems i've hit my first obstacle since starting to lose weight. No matter how hard I try I can't seem to workout. I did 10 minutes on the elliptical and started lifting weights and then I just couldn't force myself to keep going. I'm starting to get frustrated that i'm not seeing results as fast as I want. This week is going to be a make or break week for me. I have to get it together and do my workouts or i'm afraid i'm going to get off track and just lose all the hard work i've already put in.
