I have been so motivated to workout this week. It's great because I had fell into a slump the last month and hadn't been working out. Somehow I managed to stay right around the 210lbs. mark even though I was eating lots of junk and not really working out. I've been off my medicine for over a month now and it's amazing how great I feel. This time 2 years ago I had locked myself in my room afraid of the world. Now i'm back to being a social butterfly. Anyways time to go run.
It's good that you're getting your runs done but it sounds like you either need to space them out more or do something to cushion your knees before your seriously hurt them.
Congrats on being medless for a month and it's great that it appears to be helping you in more ways than one.
I ran 2.74 miles last night and 1.65 miles tonight. My shin splints were unbearable tonight so I had to cut my run short. I'm going to switch to the elliptical for a few days to let my shins heal up.
Ladyumbra: You're right, I know if I keep running with my shin splints they will eventually turn into micro fractures. I'm going to start swtiching off running and doing the elliptical.
I took the day off yesterday to let my shins heal. Today I lifted weights and did the elliptical. I'll probably just do the elliptical until monday and then i'll get back to running.
This week I ran 2.5 miles on monday and wednesday. Tuesday and Thursday I lifted weights and did the elliptical. I weighed in at 210 lbs. again today. This is the first time in forever I sustained a weight for more than 3 weeks. I have made no effort to watch what I eat since I stopped taking my anxiety medicine. I've just been enjoying being able to eat whatever I want without gaining weight.
My goal is still to get down to 190lbs. so starting on monday i'm going to start eating healthier which is really the only change I need to meet my goal.
Great job at starting your healthier lifestyle. It can be so challenging to get into the habit of healthier eating and exercising. I gained 20 pounds in college because of the unhealthy lifestyle i was leading. Dorm food, and going to wing night did not help. I finally turned it around and have kept the weight off. Go one day at a time and there is some really great advise here.

After 3 months of not really working out i'm back. I was traveling alot and was never at home so my workouts and healthy eating kinda went out the window. Now that i'm back on a regular schedule i'm going to pick up where I left off. I gained 10 lbs. over the holidays so I weigh 220lbs. right now. my goal is to weigh 205lbs by March.

Still been really busy and have just neglected to post updates but I have been losing weight at a steady pace. I'm down to 207lbs. now. I haven't been doing cardio as much as I would like to (only around 2-3 times a week) but I have made a big change in my eating habbits. I started eating 3 meals and 2 snacks a day and i've completly cut fast food and other junk food out of my life. 2 days till march and i'm almost to my goal weight. yay for me!
