I have been MIA for quite some time now. I thought I should update on my successes and lack there of. I started my new job last week. I like it so far. I am however finding myself very tired after work. Also, I barely drink any water while I work (about two cups per 9 hour shift) so I end up quite dehydrated at the end of the day. I am going to try and nip this in the bud before it becomes habit though.
While I can get pretty healthy food at the deli by my work for lunch, it is tearing a large hole in my pocket so I am going to start brown-bagging it from now on. I found myself turning to easy to prepare and less nutritious meals after work such as frozen pizza to feed everyone at dinner because I am too tired to cook. I am going to get myself back on track and prepare my meals the night before because my calories are way too high. I know it’s only been a week but I haven’t seen a difference on the scale.
I am much more active now from working. I am on my feet literally the whole time I am at work including breaks where I am either standing or taking a walk outside. I am lifting and carrying heavy boxes, climbing up and down ladders, and running, I am definitely breaking a sweat while there! I’ve tracked my steps using my pedometer. The days I took my walks I averaged anywhere from 10,000 to 12,000 steps in a day. When I didn’t go for a walk, I took anywhere from 3,000 to 6,000 steps. Now I take about 8,000 at work, about 5,000 steps walking to and from work, and 3,000 steps walking to daycare on average. My total has been anywhere from 16,000 to 20,000 steps on work days and varying only if I walk to daycare only once a day or both times to pick up and drop off my son.
I would really like to see myself in the gym about twice a week. I haven’t gotten there yet. By the end of the day I have been pretty tired and also would like to spend less time working and more time outside playing with my son. I know I will adjust to the increase in activity so when I get more comfortable and find the energy I know I will get there. I think that my biggest thing is to keep eating right, drinking enough water, and getting my Z’s. I am sure with that the pounds will start coming off again. Well that's all for now.
Notme: I can so relate to that! DH used to give me sweet "gifts" all the time but now I convinced him I much prefer flowers so I don't have it too bad with the sweets anymore unless I buy them. DH craves salty and fried foods where as I love the sweets! But I do quite enjoy an ice cold beer on a hot Saturday afternoon. DH usually has a six pack sitting in the fridge to tempt me. I am way better at staying away from it than ice cream though but I have my moments where I have to talk myself out of it.

Glad the work is giving you a work out. Hopefully you will get used to it & get your energy back soon. Those step counts are impressive!
Any chance you can stash a water bottle somewhere you can grab it every so often? Maybe in the back stock area?
Glad you are getting a sweat somehow & I know you will find a way to get to the gym if you want to... or just think of the whole world as your gym.
Oh & the brown bagging is the way to go. Maybe treat yourself to the healthy deli stuff once a week, but you got the right idea bringing your own stuff.

The active job seems like a good thing for you. Every new thing takes time to adjust though, but you'll get the hang of it soon.
For dinner, try some crock pot meals. You can toss it in before leaving in the morning and by the time you get home, it's all cooked and ready to go. No waiting! Can even prepare it the night before and put it in the crockpot in the fridge if you have a crockpot with the inside that comes out. Mine does, but I don't ever use it... Oh well.
Even though it's been a bit, I'm glad you stopped in. Try to pop in once a week and let me know how it's going .

Thanks ladies! The crockpot tip is really helpful. I am going to have to buy one this week. I can't believe I haven't done that yet! I did buy a blender though so I am getting a pretty fast and balanced breakfast. I finally found my weight in the 180's as of Thursday. I find it fluctuating up and down though but I think I am going to take it easy and not worry too much.
The job is going okay now at this point. I am not very tired after work but my feet are sore.
Oops I have to finish this later. Hubby wants to leave now for father's day brunch!

Okay so I have to come clean with myself. This summer I totally backtracked. I quit the diet, I quit working out, and I drank.... alot. I wasn't getting drunk everyday or anything but I'd get home from work and relax with two beers or a couple glasses of wine. On the weekends when I was out socializing I would have five or more drinks with friends and family. I went cottaging a week ago and we weren't drunk but we sure did drink quite a bit of beer throughout the day and evening. I was so optimistic about starting my job but it didn't last. Instead of buying and cooking wholesome foods I started to buy convenience foods like frozen pizzas, takeout, pogo's etc. fast was key. And of course I would overindulge and overeat every last bit of that. On my work breaks, instead of packing a lunch or buying good stuff from the deli and salad bar, I opted for chips, soda pop, and candy bars for a quick energy boost. I lost all my motivation and I basically gained back 13 pounds give or take any daily weight fluctuations. I am now 201 pounds. I feel miserable but I am going to set new goals for myself and make a change now before I get any heavier or down on myself.
Okay so now I have told you all what I have done wrong. I am trying to make a new plan (hopefully one I can stick to) to get me back on track.

I thought I should also mention what is going on in my life right now. I am starting college next week. I am excited for that. I am pretty sure that I am going to be quitting my job within the next two weeks because I don't think that I could juggle school, family, and a part time job while maintaining a social life and trying to work towards my weightloss. The perk about my school is that it has an awesome brand new fitness centre right on campus. I am going to incorporate this in my new plan and keep my current gym too because it is literally a five minute walk from my house. I AM GOING TO GO whether I like it or not starting today! I also lost my pedometer. I miss it and plan to replace it. On the flip side, since I used it so much I have an idea of the number of steps I do in a day now depending on my activity level. I am going to continue going for walks but I think I am going to focus more on going to the gym right now because once I am there I have no choice but to kill that eliptical machine or treadmill.

We all have our slip ups. What separates the winners from everyone else is being able to move past it & refocus on our goals rather than just wallow in our woes.
Sounds like some very good changes with the addition of the fitness center & maybe having more time for you, without the job. You can do this.
Good luck on getting back in the habit of treating yourself well.
