Rep Power: 16 | | | Lisa's Master Cleanse Hi Everyone!
I have decided to try the Master Cleanse and I thought I would write my experiences in a diary on here. I know that the Master Cleanse is not solely a weight loss tool (it has MANY benefits) but weight loss is one of the nice perks lol. In case anyone doesn't know what the Master Cleanse is, it basically is where you are only drinking "lemonade" for a set amount of time along with a salt water flush in the morning and a laxative tea at night. The point of it is to get out all of the waste in you that is storing toxins- basically its all about poop lol. So I won't go into huge detail on here about that aspect of it, but I will discuss my other "detox" symptoms along with how I am feeling and of course my weight loss.
I was at first thinking of just doing a 10 day cleanse, but after reading a book on it I decided to aim for 20 days as that seems to be the length that had the best results. One way of telling when you are done is by your tongue. You are supposed to get this white film on your tongue while your body is releasing the toxins, so when you are done your tongue becomes completely pink.
Anyways, I can explain more if anyone has questions, or its pretty easy to find information online. Tonight I drank the tea like I was supposed to the night before I start. It actually wasn't bad (I'm a big fan of sweet tea, but with this you have to follow the directions EXACTLY, so no sweetener for me). It is a laxative tea (it has senna leaves in it) so the book said I might get cramps, but so far so good.
Lol I dont want to sound like an advertisement for this whole thing, so I won't go into all of the benefits of this thing, but if anyone has any questions I would love to share what I have learned (though I really won't know until I actually do it).
Well I guess I'm off to bed, I'll have much more to tell tomorrow. |

I am so glad you are back! I have missed you and your diary. You seemed to have disappeared after finals week!
Glad to see you back and kicking! Taking any summer classes? |

Glad to see you back and kicking! Taking any summer classes? | Aww thanks so much I missed this place lol, I feel like I have so much to catch up on. After finals week I was crazy busy just trying to find a job (I'm still looking lol) and unpacking then I went on a "girls trip" with my 3 best friends and I just got back last night. But I'm back now for the summer. And no, I'm not taking any summer classes this year. Last summer I did (and it was actually kind of fun) but this summer I am just going to focus on working lots of hours and making lots of money (once I find a job :P). |

Rep Power: 217 | | have yourself a fantastic summer
and please do be careful with this new plan you're on... I'd love to try to talk you out of it but you have to do what's best for you - just please pay attention to your body and feed it if it needs it... those cleanse diets just make me so nervous... |

Rep Power: 16 | | Yeah I will definitely listen to my body. Supposedly you aren't supposed to really be hungry during the cleanse since you are getting your calories from the lemonade, you get cravings, but not true hunger. But I'll definitely be careful. I'm not one to try different fad diets (I never gave in to Atkins) and I have really researched this thing, and I am willing to give it up if it makes me feel like crap.
Well I just drank the 4 cups of saltwater........well actually I only made it through 3 before I almost threw up (I'm still feeling a little nauseous- I cant figure out how to spell this word)
But....I got through it, supposedly that is the hardest part of this thing and it actually gets easier as you go.
My beginning stats are:
Weight: 246.5 (I gained a lot over finals and then my trip with my friends)
Thigh: 31.5in
Hips: 52in
Waist: 38in
Belly button area: 47in
.........wow, I just went to make my first glass of lemonade..........and I'm not a fan lol. But I will give it my best shot. I actually still feel soooo full from the salt water I think its making it harder for me to drink the lemonade. |

I have a question? The detox is for 22 days? No food at all for 22 days? I was so exited to read about some detox but I think there is no way I can handle that lol. Can you give us more info on your research? It will not be advertising just information.
thanks,

chimistar | No, its not a requirement that you go for 20 or more days. A lot of people do 7 or 10 day ones. It really all depends on your body....the point of it is to get out all of the mucus and whatnot that holds the toxins. This takes different amounts of time for different people. But you can do the detox 3 or 4 times a year, so even if you dont get everything out the first time, its not horrible cause the next time around you will get more. The theory is that you have layers of "stuff" inside your intestines as well as toxins in your liver and other organs. By giving your body a break from eating and absorbing more toxins you are allowing it to focus its energy on ridding itself of the toxins. By doing the laxative tea and salt water flush you break down the layers in your intestines....this can take varying amounts of time. I decided on 20 days because I have eaten horribly for so many years and I read different accounts of people having the best results when they went for 20 days. One way of telling (according to the book) when you are done is by your tongue. It will get this white coating while your body is detoxing, but when the coating is gone and your tongue is completely pink, your detox is done. They have used this method of looking at the tongue in Chinese medicine for a long time.
You can go to the website The Master Cleanse / Raw Food Site and learn a lot about it. I have the book written by the same guy who owns this website. |

Rep Power: 30 | | Where I work sooooo many people do this on a regular basis.
I have attempt ONCE. Made it 3 days & then got a lil crazy ( I have had anorexia in the past & it was starting to feel very similar - so it was best I stopped).
be careful & listen to your body.
Add more maple syrup to the lemonade & it will be a bit easier to drink. You aren't going to add enough calories to make it effect the process & it add some nutrients.
Good luck.
I never could get used to the morning around here when people are doing this. You have to stay REALLY close to a toilet for at least an hour after downing that salt water. & yes you totally feel all flushed out afterwards. |

Rep Power: 16 | | yeah I went to the master cleanse website and found out that some people actually just do shots of cayenne in water and then drink the lemonade without the cayenne.......I might try that. I think the lemonade without the cayenne wont be too bad.
I still feel sick though from the salt water. I can taste the saltiness in the back of my throat even though I have drank a lot of water since then. Its weird lol.
Okay, im done complaining for now. Supposedly days 2,3,7 and 14 are the worst, so I have 2 days of detox symptoms to look forward to..........fun lol |

Rep Power: 0 | | Hiya!! well the main result has been the weight loss.. ive lost about 14-15 pounds from the cleanse alone. But it has given me headaches and a cold! But its worth it cos you feel good about yourself. Ive also noticed my skin is clearer too, my tounge is so white at the mo tho! The salt water flushes were hell for the first 4-5 days but it doesnt bother you after a while, i just down the whole lot in 2 minutes and its fine. I get on ok with the cayenne too, i just put a sprinkle in the lemonade and cant taste it too much. Im starting to get cravings though which is never good! How are you finding the cleanse so far? |

How are you finding the cleanse so far? | Thats awesome with the weight loss! Yeah I have heard that some of the detox symptoms are getting cold symptoms and a headache. I am looking forward to seeing the different detox symptoms though and then seeing them go away. and I cant wait to see what this white tongue thing is all about lol.
The salt water flush for me today was HORRIBLE! lol it took me about 15 minutes to get 3/4 of it done and then I just gave up cause I knew I would throw up if i tried anymore. I'm dreading tomorrow morning when I have to try it again. I actually really like the tea, though, so if I have to just do the tea morning and night, I will.
I have had a little bit of a craving for solid food....just something to chew....lol its only my first day and I am already complaining so much, but I really am serious about this thing and I will persevere. Its good to hear from people who have done it with great results, so thanks for sharing. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
