Rep Power: 0 | | | Elizabeth's Weight Loss Diary
This is the first time that I have ever really tried to lose weight...I have been overweight since I was 5 years old. I didn't want to believe that I have a problem...addiction to food. Food has always been a big part in my family's life, we celebrate every occasion with food; Christmas, Birthdays, Easter, and the list goes on. In April of 2005 I had my daughter Candice I felt like I was on top of the world @ that time. But when my daughter's pictures from her 2nd birthday party came back...I was horrified @ what I saw! I looked like a blue balloon with a head! I remember crying the whole way home I felt so bad and ashamed that I looked that way, not to mention embarassed! I went to the doctor on May 9, 2007 and she prescribed phentermin. She told me that after some of my blood work it showed that my metabolism was very slow and she suggested the South Beach Diet along with excercise and the medication that I should start to loose weight. I left thinking ok....maybe this will help me...it's got to help me or my weight may prove itself to be fatal!
Since my doctor's appointment in May my weight has changed for the better!

Well...let's see here I stopped eating out as frequently, I cook more food @ home. I try to eat more grilled chicken, veggies, and whole grains. This past week I guess was a test to see how I do under pressure...well I suck when it comes to what food I put in my mouth! Have me meet a sales quota...I can do that, manage 35 employees in a busy office I can do that too! But tell me ok this week is going to be like hell on earth and all you gotta do is continue to eat right....and I will fail like god knows what! I just feel so frustrated! My exercise has been limited to heavy house cleaning and chasing after my 2 year old since I went to 2nd shift but I will be changing back to 1st shift in one week! So I hope to be able to put my tennis shoes to good work and wear my daughter out @ the same time! =] |

Rep Power: 8 | | Elizabeth, sorry to hear about your sister in law's miscarriage. I had one once and I gained a lot of weight in the months that followed.
Don't give up. You have lost so much already. You ate bad and the scale went up. Ignore the scale. Just start exercising and eating right again and don't look at the scale. Don't throw everything away just because of one bad week.

Rep Power: 0 | | Thank-you so much I really needed that! My husband finally got home from his job. He's a truck-driver and I worry so much about him b/c he's not your average big beard, broad shoulder, plaid jacket wearing druck driver. He likes his her neat and spiked, clean clothes, and has a very nicely trimmed mustache...I love the purple flower ticker it was the nicest one on that website! I love butterflies can't you tell? My avatar is a butterfly, my weightloss icon, and I have a huge reverse tribal butterfly on my lower back. I see that it looks like you are in about the same place in your weight loss journey as me...I was wondering if you wanted to be buddies...so that I would have someone to help keep me motivated when my hubbie is gone???? |

Rep Power: 8 | | I will try my best to help you stay motivated! I would be worried if my hubby was a truck driver also and gone on the road. My grandfather was a truck driver his entire life. He never retired.... just kept on truckin'. When I was young he would bring me bags of those stuffed animals that you get in those crane games. He would collect them from every truck stop on his route and then bring me a big bag of them.
BTW.....housecleaning and chasing after your two year old can both be good exercise! Sometimes I think that if I played the way my children played then I wouldn't have any weight problems. Those little ones just have so much energy. |

Hey Elizabeth :] Welcome to your Diary! I also have a family who celebrates everything with food.. so I can really relate to that! It's hard. Every time I go to my grandparents.. my papa ALWAYS bugs me to eat! He is so sweet, but he thinks everyone needs to eat the whole time they are there- but I love him to death. The people on this forum have some great advice. I have learned a bunch. :] Good luck on your weight loss journey! |

Rep Power: 0 | | "Feuer:" I agree if I could bottle one ounce of my daughter's energy I would make millions! But what can you do huh? I feel much better today, I finally got a good night's sleep. I need to do my measurements tonite and start tracking my weight-loss that way as well. B/c that scale is really getting on my nerves! I appreciate your willingness to help keep me motivated! If you need anything just let me know and I will try to help you out the best that I can!
"Aleeluh": Your grandpa is just like mine every time I go over there to visit he's asking me when's the last time you ate? We got a freezer full of icecream, there's candy bars in the cabinet, and your grandma just baked a cake. I'm like geez! Who can survive this house! But I think they only do it b/c they love us....and good luck getting to your goal weight by Christmas! Just imagine all the pretty clothes that everyone will be buying for you! |

Rep Power: 8 | | How are things going starting out the week Elizabeth? Did you take measurements the other day? That is a great idea! Especially because if you lose fat, but gain muscle, then your inches may go down even if the weight is not always going down. Some days you just may feel thinner and not show any inches or pounds lost! I consider those days a success also-- if I feel thinner rather than bloated. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | I didn't get to take my measurements yet...I couldn't find my measuring tape??? Go figure! So I'm waiting until Thursday when my mom will be off from work and she is going to help me take them! I'm bouncing between 289-285 it's like up-down-up-down! I'm so sleepy! It's been really crazy @ my job so I've worked like 27 hours in 2 days! Well I'm going to hit the sack and I will post my measurements as soon as I get them! Thanks! Happy 4th! |
