Leigh's Pop Quiz

All of my clients go through a pop quiz when they work with me. It is something they have to do. It is so that I can ensure they are gaining an education while we are working with each other.

I thought it would be a great idea to start a pop quiz journal. Everyday I present a question. You can submit your answer/comment. At the end I will explain the answer and how it might be relevant to what you are doing in your fitness, health, and nutritional journey.

*POP QUIZ*

What are Whole Foods?

What are Whole Foods?

Ill take a stab at this one... Foods that have a single ingredient? Foods that are what they are without any processing?

Ok so everyone is supposed to give their best answer? Whole foods are unprocessed, one ingredient foods (ie chicken, eggs, broccoli, apples).

i believe whole food is unprocessed food and as food that is not or is little refined such as vegetables, fruits and unprocessed grains (ii don't know the term) - like wild rice, whole grain flour etc...

Whole Foods is that really expensive supermarket - that has beautiful produce and costs an arm and a leg and an ear to get groceries for a week - but it's worth it.

I have to agree. Non processed foods with one ingredient. Not to be confused with organic though, right?

whole foods is like just one ingredient with no refinment or processing.

organic is the way something is produced or grown, e.g. no chemicals, no weird inbreeding or shit. its pure "earth" food as i call it. food as it was meant to be grown and eaten not with loads of chems in it.

and although both are expensive they are worth it. spare a thought for us vegans who have to buy this expensive food all the time!! but each time you buy something like this, think of the good your doing encouraging nature at its best.

Great Answers and Spot On. I like to keep it simple like this...

Quote:
are foods that are unprocessed and unrefined, or processed and of course refined as little as possible before being consumed.
*What are some examples of whole foods?*
Most people will shoot out pasta or whole grain bread. Believe it or not these are not whole foods. Does a ravioli grow from the ground, even if wheat? There are a couple of whole food grain style products that are close to this like rice and oats. While some processing has to occur it is VERY minimal and little nutrients are lost. You would be surprised just what steaming or pressing a nutrient can do to it. Of course in addition to these types of products we have vegetables, fruits, and meat products like free range chicken, eggs, grain fed beef.

*Why free range and grain fed meat products, a loin is a loin!*
Notice a key word in the definition of whole foods...unrefined.
This in short mean free of impurities, chemicals, hormones, etc. I consider what most chickens go through in the country and the food they are fed that you eventually eat processing.

*What does this have to do with my fat loss if this is my goal*

Your body is a machine. You know from almost any day to day activity that you get what you pay for, you get what you put forth, the end is a result of your active means.

Your body by nature does not understand how to process polysorbate 60. It does know how to process a berry that grows in nature naturally. The easier of a time your digestive enyzme have breaking down food, the better the body can process the nutrients that your body gives it, making sure that your food even has nutrients, the better your fat loss is going to be.

Example. You have to run a race. You get two options of shoes. The first set of shoes have perfect tractions, feet like a glove to your feet, protect your heels and arch's and allow for maximum speed.

The 2nd set of shoes are wearing away at the soles, ragged around the edges and are covered in oil on the bottom.

Now if you slide right and if the shoes don't fall apart you may get to finish the race, you may even do it faster, but you are risking hurting yourself in the process or failing completely.

With the other shoe you know that the race will be more steady, still fast and just quick, and with almost a guaranteed result and safety.

Which do you choose?

The world isn't often painted that black and white, but what if it was? Would you make the obvious bad choices?

Now it will be a little harder to purposefully choose bad foods for fat loss.

WAIT LEIGH ISN'T THERE AN INBETWEEN?

Yes, moderation is key. But the good in your diet should be 85% outweighing the bad. Fat loss or no fat loss.

Discuss if desire, new quiz will be posted this evening.

How does fat leave the body?
Option one, In a big gooey mess in your undies by taking some over the counter drug that binds itself to fat .

option two, Lipo?

Couldn't help myself .

Fat taken in is either used up or stored. 9 cals per fat gram. And fat cells don't leave the body, they only shrink by using up more calories than we take in. The process of that, no idea.
