Hi Everybody,
My name is Marty and I decided to start my diary today because it's my birthday and what better time to start over and get back on track!! Right?
Well, let me tell you a little about myself, I've been overweight my whole life and I've tried to lose weight with all kinds of diets and nothing worked, and one day about 3 years ago I went to the doctor and I could'nt believe my own eyes when I looked at the scales--398 pounds. WOW!! I was only 2 pounds from breaking the 400 mark--and this is even worst than you mite think because I'm only 5'2' and at the time I could bearly walk and was taking meds for diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol and water pills because my feet were so swelled without them I could'nt wear my shoes. My doctor talked to me about the weight loss surgery and I know I just could'nt do that ever!! So I figured I try to lose some weight not by diet but by just cutting back and eating less--not different. This slowly began to work and over the last 3 years I lost about 95 pounds.
NOW IT'S TIME TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP!!
As of today--my 45th birthday I weight 308 pounds and I'm watching what I eat more carefully now and I walking a little--that's about the only exercise I can do. And I read on one of the threads about weighting everyday so I'm doing that--It's a great motivater and will keep me in check!!
My stats:
Age:45
Weight:308
Height:5'2'
Excerise for today: walked 1/2 mile & it took 20 mins.
Food:
Breakfast--8am
special k and whole milk
banana
I have'nt ate supper yet, maybe just another bowl of cerel since I was'nt so good at lunch with my sweet potato!!
Well, I think that will do it for today, I'd love to hear from all of you guys with any advice, comments or suggestions and I'll be back tomorrow for day 2 !!

Hi there and a big welcome! I'm majorly impressed by your weight loss so far. I agree that you're now on a different phase of your journey and you may need to change things up a bit.
Do you mind if I say, unless that sub had 3500 calories in it, you did not gain fat but rather, you experienced a *normal* upward fluctuation. They happen to the very best of us, even anorexics I suspect, and they are not to be taken as a sign that you should not eat breakfast. I always fluctuate between 3 pounds during the week. The good news is when you're fluctuating at lower numbers. When you hit a *new low* on your scale, you know you've lost fat AS LONG AS you're eating well the next days, any upward fluctuation is normal and sure to come right back down. By "eating well" I mean within either a calorie deficit or eating at your calorie maintenance level. How many calories per day do you try to eat for your weight loss plan going forward?

Hey Lukewarm and Blancita glad you stopped by and hope you will pop in again!!

It was a homemade sub and I kept track of everything so I know it had 600 calories in it. I don't know much about counting calories from guess--so I try and buy food that has it on the labels, so I can keep track better.

I'm aiming for the 299 on the scale, it's been 18 years since I was below 300--so that's a big one for me, the lowest I've got to so far was 305 a couple weeks ago.

I'm trying to stay at 1500 but I'm getting closer to 2000. I would like to find out how many I should have for my weight --do you know how I could find out?
FOOD--DAY 2 BREAKFAST
Slim fast--190
Banana---100 LUNCH
2 FISH FILLET--320
2 LIGHT BREAD--90
TARTER SAUCE-120 SUPPER
CHICKEN & CHEESE WITH RICE--320
SLICE SWEET POTOTOE PIE-----400 SNACKS
MINI BAG MICROWAVE POPCORN--75
2 FUDGE BARS------------------300
TOTAL FOR THE DAY--1915
WOW--That really looks like a lot a food when it's wrote down!!
I know I should'nt eat things like the sweet pototoe pie and the fudge bars (700 calories), but I've got this crazy sweet tooth---I need my sugar fix!!! Dose anybody have any suggests on how I can control it a little better.
Hope y'all have a good night and I'll see you tomorrow

Hi Jeremy--nice to meet you too. I've only started my journal for 2 days but I love the way it makes me stop and think before I eat something, because I know I will have to be accountable with myself. That's something I relized a while back--In order to fix a problem you have to be honest with yourself and own up to the fact the there is a problem and I DO HAVE IT WITHIN MY POWER TO CHANGE
Thanks for stopping by and I hope your visit again

Congrats on your weightloss so far! If you keep up on your journey you'll be able to get below 300 This forum and these journals are great... I feel accountable to everyone here and I don't want to let anyone down. Its a great motivator and the support here is amazing.
For those sweet tooths you can get ice pops or fudge pops that are no sugar added. There's a lot fewer calories, fat and sugar in them. Some of them are really good to. There's also things like sugar free pudding, jell-0 ect.
You'll be able to find a balance for yourself when it comes to calories. I know a lot of people here use sites like fitday.com to keep track of their calories.

Dose anybody else have struggles with snacks or late night eating? love to hear from you on how you handle it

You don't have to stick to just 3 meals per day. I try to eat 5-6 small meals and snacks a day. I never really get hungry and I never feel like binging because I'm always satisfied.
You just have to figure out what works best for you
Wanna Be Skinny's Weight Loss Journey Post #11 (permalink)

Hello! It is great to see all the progress you have made. Congrats on all the weight you lost. You have done an amazing job!
I have the same issue with wanting to snack all the time and eating late.
My biggest struggle is snacking on sunday afternoons or during primetime tv.
I LOVE sweets (chocolate) and starches like cereal.
So I buy sugar free or low cal. My most fav thing right now is Weightwatchers Ice cream!! (I am really excited about my new find) They come individual container/serving sizes. They are so good and the portion size is perfect. I love the double choc with brownie pieces (yummy!!) They are 140 cal and 1.5 grams of Fat ( I think..If I go look it won't make it back in the freezer)
When it comes to my cereal (which I am addicted to and can't live without) I just buy ceral with no sugar or salt in the first 5 ingredients. I now buy 1%milk vs. 2% milk (I have always drank 2% so that was kinda hard to do). These changes really helped me. You have to atleast try the Ice Cream!!
Thanks for letting me write a book in your journal. lol
I wish you the best.

I can't think of a weight that you would fit into the dress because its different for everyone. People of all different weights fit into certain sizes even if they are the same height. I'm sorry I can't give you an exact weight... the best I can do is tell you that I am currently 260 and 5' 1/2" and my size 26 jeans are falling off of me. I hope that helps.
Keep up your great work

Hey Everybody--My weight this morning is 309,back down a lb. I had special K and milk for breakfast, I'm going to try and make to lunch without any snacks.
Hi Marty and welcome,
Don't worry too much about small fluctuations. It happens with all of us and a large part of it can come from water retention. Oddly, the body will store more water if you drink less, and expel more of the stored water if you drink more. So, I find that if my weight goes up by a lb or two, I just chug some extra water and the added water weight seems to disappear.
Do you have a daily caloric max intake goal set? I've found that setting my upper limit on calories and then carefully tracking what I eat has prevented me from over-eating and sabotaging my chances at weight loss.
It sounds like you're on the right track already.

Hello! It is great to see all the progress you have made. Congrats on all the weight you lost. You have done an amazing job!
Thank you so much for your kind words, it really means a lot to me to get positive feedback from my dairy. It makes me think I can make it another day--and that's all we can hope to do is take one day at a time, then it turns into a week--a month and then before you know it--WE ARE AT ARE GOAL WEIGHT!!!!!

This is something I've never heard before. Why the first 5 ingredients? And I would'nt think their would be much to choose from with so much sugar in everything now days.
I just learned how to use to Quotes but I still don't know how to link the quotes from 2 or 3 posts??
