I don't really know if that is normal or slow . I usually average about 25-27 mph which I feel like is fairly vigorous for me. I'll sprint at times to around 30-35 mph throughout. I don't know how accurate this digital readout is tho either. I time myself with a seperate stopwatch . I start out the first couple of miles with low resistance then I'll up the setting and the last couple of miles I'll ease it back down some.
oh and I will sometimes hold the rotating handlebars and sometimes I will sit upright without them. I'm wearing those weights on my wrists while riding and I'll simulate fast walking pace with my arms when I'm sitting straight up on the bike. If this makes sense *L* Might be hard to get that mental picture. |

Here's something you could try, though--go at a moderte pace/low resistance the first 3-5min then up the resistance and pace for 1-2mins--working it as hard as you can. Then ease back on speed and resistance for 3-4min and kick it into high gear again. Keep doing that until you've gone 10 miles. This will give your leg muscles a work out and kick your metabolism into gear. Also, if your gym options are not so good, have you thought about a home weight gym like a bowflex or something? B/c you DO need to get some strength training in--or else it's gonna be hard for you to keep losing at a decent rate. |

I've actually thought about getting a home gym setup. Just not sure where I could put it. I think free weights might be a good choice. I had actually looked at a set the day I got the bike and opted to buy the bike instead of the weights. I could probably pick up a decent bench that can fold away fairly reasonable too. Maybe I'll add that to my weekend list of things to buy. I was planning on getting a camcorder this weekend. Guess I'll be spending some cashola huh *L* |
