Just a brief post for the weekend. I guess I haven't been doing much in the way of formal exercise since the bike ride. Well the dog and I did take about a 3 mile hike. I'm not sure of the exact count since it's a walk around the inlaws farm land. It took me about 50 min. and we were walking pretty fast. So, I know it's got to be close to 3 miles.
Other than that I've been busy in my bedroom. No, not like that...LOL I finally got the walls good enough (wall border down and some spackling done) so that I could start painting. Since we had a deep rose color and are now changing it to a baby blue, I put on a coat of primer today. I only got half of the room done as the plan is to do the parts I can then rearrange the furniture in there so that I can do the other half. I think I can accomplish that.
I'm also thinking when it's all done, I will rearrange the bedroom furniture for good (or at least another 11 yrs - since it's been that way for that long.)
I'm very tired today from all the taping and painting.... that and I got up early to take ds to driver's ed. And I guess that's how my week will start out all next week since he has D.Ed until next Friday.
I'm hoping to have the room all done by mid-week next week so that I can start on the bathroom. Ha! That and so I can take a mini-break. I'm taking my time this go around, it will leave less room for huge mistakes.

Painting and redoing rooms can be hard work . . and the clean up part sux, but the pay off makes it worthwhile. I have done some work around my place recently and still have to get around to the painting part.
good Luck!

So, my room is over half done. It would be done more so but I took the day off yesterday. I needed it. The day before I tried to do too much and started getting sloppy. The other reason it's taking me longer than normal is because I have to paint one side, then move furniture, then paint another side. Plus I have to use primer since I'm going from a rosey pink to a baby blue (dh's choice this time around.) And then I went to start on another section of the room, only to realize the corner needed to be fixed with spackling, so that takes it on down the road another day....sigh....
I've figured out how I'm going to rearrange the room too - and have an idea of the color I'm painting the bathroom (which is off of the master bedroom.) But, I might not get to the bathroom until later this summer/early fall because I'm a little tired of painting at the moment.
Besides painting another wall in my room (well painting on the primer), I also went outside and weeded around the house and in the garden. I don't really know why I have a garden, except for the tomatoes which will be ready when I get back home. I think the rest of the garden is just going to go to the birds. Especially if the kids continue to weed it like they have been.
I also baked up a batch of strawberry/banana muffins, which are ready right now - and I'm going to go have myself one.

So here I am too. Once again, I have gone from 200+ lbs. to 115lbs, and now back up tilting the scales since I have quit smoking. I need some inspiration and help. I can not get motivated to work out anymore. I was an avid gym goer in my past life and I cant get it back. Any words of wisdom?

Hi tacc, guess the advice I can give is to take everyday one step at a time. It's a day by day thing - and don't give up just because you have a few bad days.
Well, the past two weeks was an unexpected turn of events. I had planned to be at home and finish painting - my bedroom closet as well as our master bath. However, dh got a call to go to FL for 2 wks for business and so we went along. We were in Boca Raton for a little over a week and now we're in Orlando, getting ready to leave tomorrow morning. We spent a few days at the beach, one day at a waterpark, then some other days just lounging around. By the end of the week, I was ready to move on (more like ready to just go home.) So, we've now been in Orlando for about a week. Have went to Universal Studios as well as Islands of Adventure. And we are pooped. I will get home tomorrow only to turn around and leave on Sunday for 7 weeks of training for school. I'm not sure how I'm actually going to survive for 7 wks without my home. At least here I'm with my family, but there I will be alone - except for when they come visit. I'm a little nervous because I've really wanted to go home for the last week. - and now I will be gone for another 7 wks!
As far as exercise, the first week I didn't do anything specific. When we were at the waterpark, I think I cramped up a few times with my abs due to being skeered, but other than that I didn't do any exercise. The two days at the beach, I would consider a little exercise, walking through the sand, swimming, and keeping my balance in the waves - they were huge. Plus we swam for a few hours in the pool. Then we spent a day at the mall and stuff like that - so a little walking, but nothing planned.
Now this week I have went down and worked out on the elliptical 3 times. Plus walking around at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. And then walking around town for a few hours. I know I've gotten in exercise, but I've also been eating badly. I tried calculating my cals for yesterday - which wasn't a "bad" day, but the cals were still over 2000. I haven't been able to weigh myself for over a week. At the first hotel there was a scale and I used it once. I weighed about the same as I did at home. But here I haven't had access to a scale. I have though been keeping tabs on my wedding ring finger (swelling) and keeping tabs on how my clothes are fitting. But there have been quite a few days that I've had some really belly busting nights. Where I wasn't sickly full, but uncomfortable enough.
So my plan for the next 7 wks is to keep on track with food - the hotel I will be staying at is one with a kitchen so I will be able to cook or just have salads in the fridge. Plus I'm going to exercise everyday. I won't have any excuses, because except for "school work", I won't have anything else to do - and I will be bored. I've even thought about walking to class every day - it would be 3 miles there and back. But, I want to check out the area first to make sure I feel safe walking there.
Ok well this has gone on long enough. I will have internet, so I will be checking in more often (in Boca Raton, we didn't have access - they wanted $10/day for access!!) That's because it's a ritzy area and they must think we are all rich or want to be rich - every other hotel I've stayed at gives you access for free.
TTFN - Happy 4th!

It's going ... it's a lot of work. I've been working in class from 9-3 everyday, then working on papers back at the hotel room for at least 4 hrs!
I did manage to work out one day. I also took a small walk one day during lunch and just today (to go get ice cream!) LOL
But I'm exhausted everyday.
I have been taking it easier today - went shopping this morning and came back and didn't start on my papers until about 6pm. But I got one whole lecture done. And only 2 more to go to be all caught up.
I can't say how much I weigh because there is no scale. Except for the ice cream today I've been eating pretty simple - turkey, veggies, fruit, and protein bars. In the morning the hotel has breakfast, so mostly I grab protein and fruit.
I should go to a store and try out a scale.

wow sounds like you are really busy. i'm sure you will be losing weight with all that work. excercising the brain can be as good as excercising the body. i was teaching for 2 months and the work really did help me to maintain my weight. i even lost some during while eating as much as or more than i needed to maintain. don't worry too much about the excercise if you are exhausted and your food seems to be good so keep concentrating on that. and everyone needs ice cream
have a good week.

Hey Sweetiepea!
I sure do miss ya!
Sounds to me like your barely having enough time to eat and sleep let alone work out. But what your eating sounds great.
Hopefully as the time wears on you will get more and more time to do what you want.
Hope you have a great time visiting with the family this weekend.
Ciao

My eating was doing well until this weekend. Actually, until today. The family and I went to the Cheesecake Factory for brunch. Dh and I shared his meal. But then he ordered the chocolate tower cake. Mmmm! It's so delish. And of course since they couldn't take it in the car for 7 hrs, the left overs got to stay here.
I had planned on stretching it out, but guess what, the box is empty now! Oh well it's gone, back on track tomorrow.
We rented out the pool at the training center (guess the lifeguard has to be there for us to use it.) So a group of us have been going there twice a week to get in some relaxation time as well as a little exercise. It's an olympic sized pool and so it really is great for exercise. Of course it sure wears you out.
I've also been walking quite a bit. But, some days are just so full of work that I don't have time except for just a little during lunch. But I figure (as Angel stated above) I've got to be burning something off with all this brain exercise!
Just wish I had a scale to look at once in awhile.
It's bedtime so I'm signing off.
P.S. If I don't get around to anyone's journal it's only because i really don't have too much time to spend online. TTFN!

With all the typing, drawing, typing, class time... I haven't been doing as much exercise as I had originally intended to do while here. I did take a nice long walk this morning. But it was about 80 out and very humid. The backs of my hands were dripping with sweat!
I did happen to step on a scale the other day - right after the Cheesecake Factory incident - and my weight is up from the ticker below.
I had figured it would be after the trip to FL, but then after being here I wasn't eating as much - more like I normally would or somedays even less than that. Anyway, I guess it didn't do me any good.
I figure once I get home I'm really going to have to kick things back up to where they were when I was doing the last challenge I was involved with on this forum (where I worked out an hour or more each day.) That and the few weeks I had at the Y is the only reason I was able to lose weight.
I just hate having to work out so hard. But, it seems that if I want to get anywhere near my goal then that's what I'm going to have to do.
Well I'd better get back to working...TTFN!

Hi girly!
I sure do miss you.
This summer is just not the sam without my best buddy here. I can't seem to get as motivated as I did last summer when we both started out on our respective journey's.
I bet your weight isn't that far off the ticker. Your weighing on a foreign scale. So it could very well be off from your usual one.
Can't wait for you to get back home.
