You just can't trust some people.

A friend of mine, who I met while working out for 45 minutes to an hour a day, five days a week, for over a year....who RUNS the workout center where I worked, called me this morning. Her first question was "Are you the only one there?" So I knew something was up...

She was in the post office yesterday and overheard a conversation that one of my co-workers, who I've worked closely with for FOUR years and KNOWS better, was having with another person. She overheard the other person tell my co-worker that she "wanted to be as skinny as Mindi" because I looked very good. The other guy in the room said he thought I was too thin, and my co-worker said, "Well, she wouldn't feel as bad as she does if she hadn't had that surgery."

WHAT?! This woman, who I totally trusted, was basically implying I'd had surgery to lose weight, when she knows how hard I worked. She's the one who started me out at the workout center! She's my number one cheerleader when I'm feeling bad about myself...she's the one to jump in and say how good I look now and how healthy I must feel.

Obviously she's a total lying snake who can't be trusted. I'm just floored this morning. Wow.

Well, the stress is almost over! Tomorrow is centennial day. This time tomorrow I'll be working on the thing I've been helping plan for months. After the parade ends at 3:30-ish, it's smooth sailing...can't WAIT for Sunday, just so I can be past this!!!

The centennial is over, and everything went great! Not doing anything like that again for a while...

You know, I got to thinking about my snacking. Maybe this is just wishful thinking....but I've kind of tied the start of my seemingly-obsessive snacking with when I started chewing gum a lot.

Before, I'd use gum a few times to keep me from eating. Like when I was cooking, I'd chew gum to keep from tasting too much stuff, or during long periods without a snack. Not very often at all...once or twice a day, MAX. Then it became more and more, until I'm almost CONSTANTLY chewing gum. It's become so second-nature for me that it doesn't keep me from eating anymore...I just get rid of it, eat the chocolate/snack item and get some more.

It's almost as if I've conditioned myself to always chew something. And maybe my mind or subconscious is telling me, "Hey! You're chewing but your stomach isn't getting anything! Eat something!"

At least it's my theory...gonna cut back on gum consumption and see what happens...

So a new little workout center opened down the street from me, and I signed up. I was so burned out at the first one I rarely went anymore (just did videos, etc., at home). And the equipment there was breaking down FAST anyway. This one has older stuff, but it works. Hopefully the elliptical will hold up a while so I can keep going and using it....

Did better with the snacking yesterday, but not GREAT yet. Today's another day....even if I cut back some every day 'til it's gone, that's better than what I had been doing.

I'd be happy if I could go to something around here that was close enough not to be out of the way. We do have a Curves, but I used to work there, and I really don't like the owner and her views.
However, I do have all that I need here, I just need to do it!

I chew gum a lot, mostly from habit and mostly because I don't want to be standing close by someone with coffee breath!

What I like MOST about the new little center is that I can get on my own schedule again. I LOVED when the place I used to go opened up at 6 a.m. I could get in there, get done and get to work early, like I like to. This one I can get into anytime with a code for the door. My husband had to get up a little later than normal so I was up at 5 a.m. I was awake, had my total workout done and was home getting ready for work by 6:30 a.m.! I like morning workouts, and the new scenery is helping a lot. It's also great that I'm all alone in there in the mornings...don't have to wait for a machine! The machines are a little older, but they still work.

Another plus is that I can maybe convince the husband to start going, if we can find a time when nobody's up there. Yay!

Started the Jillian Michaels "Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism" DVD this morning. It's 5 minutes of warmup, 40 minutes of cardio circuits and 5 minutes of cool down. I should've done the whole 40 minutes of cardio, but I did half. There's six cardio circuits in all, and I did half. With the warmup that put me right at half an hour of workout time (and 307 calories burned according to the heart rate monitor!). I did half because I don't want to get bored with the video too soon by doing the same thing too much. Now I can alternate two halves of this video with the THREE different workouts on the 30DS, along with three times weekly weight training, work on the bike and elliptical. Should have a good, varied bunch of workout choices for now...Maybe I won't get so bored!

Did great with snacking on Tuesday. NONE at all! Then yesterday I snacked a little and ate a tad bit too much dinner, but overall I'd grade myself with a B (maybe B-). It's hard to eat right up here at work...I just took my lowfat yogurt to the fridge, and had to walk past a giant tub of mini Butterfingers, Baby Ruth, Hershey Bars, Kit Kats and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups to get to the fridge, where I put my yogurt right next to an ENTIRE pre-made key lime pie (I looked at the box...480 calories per slice. Yikes).

It's INSANE that the two women I work with want to consume this much junk! They eat candy and stuff non-stop up here at work, get takeout taquitos for breakfast every single morning THEN go to lunch together. And many times a week also go OUT to dinner together, where they drink a lot of mixed drinks (mucho calories) and eat a big dinner.

Then they gripe about how they can't lose weight. I just want to scream sometimes...

Yesterday I went out to lunch with a friend, because my co-workers never invite me to go with them. I was good, too...had a grilled chicken sandwich (I figured along the lines of Dairy Queen's sandwich...at about 350 calories), and a small bag of potato chips (150 calories). I came back and the co-workers asked where we'd gone and what I had. I told them and they didn't understand WHY I went out at all...when they go, they'll eat chicken fried steak and fries, or a giant burger and fries, or cheese enchiladas and the trimmings. They always question HOW I eat, but can't understand WHY they're gaining.

What kind of job do you have?

It sounds like they are storing up for a junk food shortage... LOL

I work in an office with two other women. It's a weekly newspaper...I'm the editor.

So this weekend was ok. Didn't get to make a trip with my sister I was supposed to make because of a downpour where we were going. Honestly I was happy not to go. She likes to go to renaissance faires, and I really don't enjoy them anymore. The only reason I was going to go is because she's getting on a plane to Scotland on June 3...and may not ever come back. I also think she would've been miserable there. The last time we went was a number of years ago...and she was probably about 150 pounds lighter. I think she would've had a harder time getting around there all day long than she thought she was going to.

We're supposed to go this weekend...maybe we'll do something else instead.

Did some yard work yesterday, and my normal workout this morning. I'm almost used to getting up way early and working out again. I also finally got rid of a lot of the "snack" foods in the house that I couldn't stay out of, and those I couldn't get rid of I at least got out of sight.

This is gonna be a busy week, unfortunately. Lots of banquets and things. And around here in Texas, banquets mean brisket, potato salad and other things I'm so sick of I could DIE. The sports banquet is tomorrow night...and I'm going to try to find out what the menu for it is today. If it's brisket (or should I say when I find out it's brisket), I'm going to plan to eat dinner at home, NOT pay to get in and just take my pics and leave. Blah.

OH!! And I FINALLY found jeans that fit and are long enough! I'm in a size 6 Old Navy mid-rise, boot cut pant. I tried to explain to my husband that whoever thought up women's pant sizes should be SHOT. At JC Penney I was getting the Levi brand and wore a size 4...but couldn't get them in "Long" unless I was a 6 or above. That's the case almost anywhere. It's also crazy how I can wear a 4 in one brand and anywhere from an 8 to 10 in others. No sense to it at ALL!

Well that sounds like a cool job, but I bet it can be a pain like any other job, right?

Why is your sister wanting to move to Scotland?

Yeah the whole size thing is just a big gimmick. Did you know they are even making them sizes bigger than they used to be? Because I guess "average" size is bigger so the average "12" is more like a 14 or a 16. I read an article on it not too long ago.

I would die to be in a 6 (well not literally) -- or even a 10!!

Have a great week Mindi!

Yeah, the editor thing can be good and bad. Right now it's slowing down after many very busy months which is good...but in mid-July I'll be DYING for something to do, which is bad.

My sister wants to move to Scotland because she's wacky. She met some guy online and went and spent Christmas with him in 2007. He "loves" her, but she thinks of him as a friend. Well, his parents (who he lives with in his mid-20s...my sister is 30) invited her to come spend the summer with them in Scotland. She also applied for this overseas teaching thing that she'll hear about (whether she got in or not) while she's over there. And if she didn't, she's going to spend the summer convincing herself she loves him enough to marry him, because his parents told her if she'd come marry him they'd sponsor her visa until the wedding.

Why does she WANT to go? She's not 100% normal...I love her but her brain just doesn't work in any way using any common sense. She made it through college in 10 years with 100,000+ in student loans because she got MORE than she needed so she could live on them and not work too. Then there's the fact that she feels like she just "doesn't fit in" here in the U.S. She just wants to live over there and ducking the loan repayment is another plus for her.

I think she's crazy, personally.

I heard that on the sizes. My husband was asking the other day while we shopping WHY women's pants aren't like men's sizes...waist circumference and leg length. I told him it's vanity, just like the "8 is really a 10" thing...most women don't want to go and shop for size 30 pants. I personally wouldn't care if it made things easier....

Well, I'm posting a picture in this one. Got an award from the school district last night, and they took a picture. Looked at it this morning and want to cry. I SO look like a boy! And that's a brand new shirt (size small no less) that I thought looked great until now. No boobs..no curves...blah....

Awe Mindy.

You don't look like a boy.

That's wonderful that you won an award!

Too bad your sister's crazy, but I believe we all have one that's a little on the weird side.

Sounds like a fantasy she is living in. I do hope it works out for her. But, if it doesn't, just be there for her when she needs you.

Take care!
