Even though my own scale shows a loss, the WW scale only showed ounces. I have been fiddling around with this one stupid pound for about a month, now. My workouts have definately been more intense over the past couple of weeks, so it must just be my food! A few too many gingersnaps, perhaps? Time to get back to solidly WRITING IT ALL DOWN. I don't know why I have such an aversion to doing it, but if I truly want to shed the rest of my excess poundage (and I DO), I had better just get on with it.
I did my work out today to Biggest Loser again. Love that show! So inspiring.
Hope you all had a more productive week at the scales than I did! |

maybe you need to replace the battery in your scale or need a new scale. We notice that when our scale goes off, if we replace it...well its time to replace it usually. WE try to get the scaled that will hold up to 320 pounds. Thats the one we have ...
but anyway ... Youll lose this weight! I believe you can!
I actually got my butt out for a walk ..hmm...
keep treacking hun ...
love yas

It is better to lose a few ounces than nothing at all. I know that this is very little comfort when you know that you have earned a loss that has not materialised. These things do catch up eventually. Do not become disheartened.
We all hit plateaus every now and again.
Some I resolved by increasing my daily mileage - but it sounds like you have already tried that.
In September I had 2 plateaus with a mere 5 days where I lost any weight between the two.
It was really wierd. I had got to the stage where I thought that it was silly to just keep increasing the daily mileage. I was not sure how many miles I would end up doing........
I even went to see my doctor and she was useless. She didnt even put me on the scales. I know for a fact that I was 205.4 pounds that morning and 5 ft 3 inches tall. She told me that if I was eating carefully and doing the walking that I was telling her that I was doing and had stopped losing weight - I must have lost all my fat and I needed to improve my muscle tone. My husband was there at the time and he agreed that he wouldnt have believed it had he not heard it himself.
It was when I was searching the internet for ideas as to how to proceed that I found this forum.
There were some interesting threads on plateaus - I think in the harsh truth section.
I know for a fact that I solved the first plateau by stopping my daily weetabix and replacing it with something else. I got 5 days worth of loss and then it all stood still again. I then started my weetabix up again and started losing again. I never understood why it seemed to make a difference - but it did seem to.
Some people wonder why I eat such a repetitive diet - but even slight alterations can make a huge difference for me.
Writing everything down could be a good idea. I think that I would do that if I were you. It helps us to focus on both the quantity and the balance of the diet.
Take care
Love

Rep Power: 25 | | Thanks for your suggestions, gals! I will check out the Harsh Truth section of the forum to see what Plateau Bustin' advice is offered there.
Our WW meetings are held right next to a Salvation Army thrift store, which I frequent after every meeting! Yesterday I bought a lovely size 12 skirt, which I wore out to dinner and then to work. It is very flattering to my *new* svelte figure, and when worn with a fitted sweater, certainly caused DH to take notice! The gals in my office are very supportive and encouraging of my weight loss efforts, and at least 2 others have started their own WL journeys as a result. It is nice to know that we are inspiring/impacting other folks.
Here's to a better week. |

I hope that you sort out your plateau soon.
Have you tried eating salmon as a main meal. Definitely try it!
It sounds silly but it is my best meal. I could almost want to eat it every day - I lose weight so well with it.
I take a salmon fillet and rub the sides with a little olive spread. I wrap it in foil and cook for 25 minutes at 180. I serve with 3 boiled new potatoes (with a little olive spread) and sweetcorn.
With the olive spread melting everywhere it doesnt feel like you are dieting much at all.
Anyway I weigh every day and have registered a loss the next morning on 11 of the last 12 times that we have had it.
The new skirt sounds lovely. I am quite jealous. There are no charity shops that I come into regular contact with. I am currently living in 2 leisure suits, a few T shirts and there is my red dress that I seldom have the occasion to wear. I begrudge buying new clothes when I still want to lose quite a lot of weight. I still have big rolls of fat that need to go - the lament of the small boned!
Take care
Love

Rep Power: 17 | | | Dang Janice... i certainly would be jumping up and down for joy if i could fit into a size 12. I haven't been in a size 12 since i was in middle school if not elementary school. At least i am going back down in sizes but that may all change here in the next few months if my test comes out the way i am thinking it will. I took one today but it was extremely light so kinda hard to tell if its positive or not so we are waiting another week or so before retesting.. haha.. well i'll let you know. i guess we will find out one way or the other come next week.
hope you are able to break through your plateau soon. I have been bouncing around from 234 to 238 the last few weeks so i am hoping on saturday that i see 233 if not lower.

Rep Power: 25 | | Hi gals NJ:: It seems to me that size 14 is a very normal, average size in North America. I gather you are somewhat taller than me, so it could very well be just the right size for you to aim for! MARGARET: Thanks for the salmon tip! I loooooove seafood, and do try to frequently have salmon and tuna in my daily diet. You know, when I got on my scale this morning, it read 174 -- but I generally only go by the WW scale at my weekly weigh in. I am curious what it will be this week! HEATHER: Hmmm... I remember those days well when hoping to conceive! LOL Still at times when Aunt Flo is late, my heart skips a beat. I would so love another little one around the house. I hope you have the answer on the PG test that you are looking for!
It has been a hard weekend emotionally, but I have not done any binging, which is very good. I am just very tired and drained and trying to find some sort of solution for my marriage. We are on a wait-list for counselling in January, so I just really need to hang on a bit longer.
Hope everyone had a good weekend and has an excellent week!

: | I like doing that, it helps me remember to work out during my T.V times ( which is dwindling due to the writers strike).

Rep Power: 17 | | | Hey girl sorry the scale isn't working with you.. i know what that is like. i have been there myself the last few weeks either it is where i want or close to it then jumps back up. i wish it would go down and stay down. lol but i guess it will do what it wants. anyways the test was too unclear to say one way or the other but i will be retesting next week if aunt flo stays away.. lol

Rep Power: 17 | | Hey janice.. hope things are going well and the scale finally shows your hard work that you and i both know your doing..
I am now hitting the gym at least 2-4 times a week since we bought our gym membership the other day.. woohoo i got hubby to join with me so i'm not the only one losing weight or planning on it. he said he's planning on losing 1 lbs to every 2 lbs i wanna lose cause he only wants to get back down to 200 so he has to lose 40 and i want to lose 80 lbs right now which would get me within 4 lbs of my goal for now before rechecking where i think i may want to be. i know bmi wise i should technically be down between 110-130 because i am only 5'1 but i think that may just be way to smalll for me. I guess if i can get back down to 150 which is what i weighed when i first got with hubby then i'll be happy. lol well see you soon. hope things are well with you and yours.

Well done for not bingeing during a tough time emotionally. I am sure that things will get easier when counselling starts - I am sure that talking will help.
In the meantime all the walking will benefit your weight loss project.
I am sure that your world will be getting very Christmassy courtesy of your daughters. That should be enjoyable.
Take care

Rep Power: 25 | | Hi, Umbra, Jess, Rah, and Heather! Thanks for stopping by my diary again! As always, a big to my regulars, Margaret and NatalieJo. All of you have been such an encouragement while my scale refuses to budge! Well, it isn't MY scale that isn't budging; this morning it weighed me buck naked at 172! However, if I can just get that dang WW scale to measure 175, I'll be pleased!
I am really, really working that old treadmill. You know, the kind of sweat that just pours off you, and down you, and is all icky...and your face is all red, and your hair is suddenly a sopping mop...That is totally how I look at the end of my workout! LOL I totally think I sweat out a good liter at a time. If only it would stay off! But I can feel by my clothes that I am continuing to shrink, so that's good.
I am looking forward to seeing my in-laws at Christmas only to see their jaws drop! I'll be sure to steer pretty clear of my F-I-L who drinks too much and then gets a little too "touchy". So does my B-I-L, for that matter. But they may admire me out loud and from a distance! LOL
I am going to be working lots at the hospital between now and Christmas, as hubby is laid off and we obviously need the extra $ at this time of year. I prefer to do my workouts in the morning when I actually have some energy, but whilst I am working days, the sweating must happen in the evenings.
All for now, do be good girls, won't you? Santa is watching... | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
