Today is starting out well. I have already done my first power walk. Now for house cleaning and another walk! I did not journal my food yesterday, but am back at it today. I think I don't eat enough if I don't write it down. I am rarely hungry, but realize that I need a good balance of protein & carbs to actually lose weight.
I was frustrated last week that I didn't lose anything by way of the scale, but I can definitely feel that my clothes (esp. pants/skirts) are getting looser and looser. How I HATE being shaped like a pear! GRRR...finding pants that get over my hips/thighs and fit my waist is IMPOSSIBLE. The waist is always a mile too big. *sigh* I guess Stacy & Clinton ("What Not to Wear") would just tell me to go to a tailor, but I get the feeling those two are not living on a budget! LOL If I get a NEW pair of pants, there is no money for tailoring. However, if I shop at Value Village, that is a possibility, I guess.
It has been so very long since I've purchased pants, because I hate pants shopping and because I got so big. Finally now I am pants shopping, and do you know they don't make pants normal anymore? Everything is a mile below my naval! LOL I hope they are making shirts longer, because I sure don't want 3 inches of flesh showing between top & bottom! It's crazy! Would someone with some common sense PLEASE enter the fashion industry on behalf of all women (or at least on behalf of those of us who are shaped like pears)? hee hee
Well, time to go write down my breakfast. I am so thankful for this forum, it has been a great inspiration to me! I love my life.
Pants shopping! lol I am going to be doing that Friday, because I need some for school and going outside in the colder weather..when it actually gets colder.
Might want to try Fashion Bug. They have some pants that go down below the naval, but for the most part they have different styles and have great sales. But I am apple shaped right now... should be an hour glass figure, but you know, I gained weight lol and I am honest with myself lol
I am in a size 24 ... they used to have the ass part of my pants coming down, so I would sit and the pants would come down ..should have seen me.. I just kept tugging on my shirt to pull it down ..of course everyone noticed the girl with her undies showing and mooning people lmao
but now they fit rights
My idea is I am not going to buy a size up .. I refuse to ...someone told me that ...that allows your mind to think its ok to be a bigger size ....
so if I dont fit in what they feel is a size twenty four, or they are too tight...and the twenty six is too loose .. I am not getting pants yet... I will wait until The end of October and just deal with the two pants I have ..
I refuse to get a larger size lmao
anyway I dont know what pear shaped women are supposed to look for in pants ... you might want to ask someone from the store.. like a manager, what they feel a pear shaped women should look for in pants and ask if they have anything that doesnt drop below the navel ... your finding ... low cut jeans ..they are very popular with really thin women and for some odd reason they think someone who is overweight a tadd can somehow fit into them correctly lmao ...
I would definately ask them, or even look online ..you might find it easier looking it up online ...they had this whole what to look for in pants for different shapes for Lane Bryant .. they might be able to help you, because they had this come out a couple months ago ..its been big in their store ..they are making jeans for any shape ..
best wishes
**you will find something hun!**
and awesome walks! I can't take walks in ninety degree weather .. I just opened the door and died while closing it ..lol
suffocating heat stinks ...aerobics is in for today
but thank you for your wonderful ..inspiring message!
*WHEW!* Just finished walk #3. I feel great! However, my foot is a tad irritated, so I think I'd better just get the laundry, start dinner, clean the living room, and put my foot up and watch something on telly. Something inspiring, like Biggest Loser or Fat March. My poor, skinny DH totally does not get my obsession with before/after shows on weight loss. He is fat challenged. LOL
I have been good about journaling my food today. I am making sloppy joes for dinner, and then am off to a meeting where they are bound to have all manner of things sweet. Fortunately for me, I am no longer tempted by such things! That truly is a miracle, if you had ANY IDEA what kind of sweet tooth I had. Now I just treat myself to some "portion controlled" yummyness, and feel totally spoilt!

Hey thought I would drop by and say hi and congrats on your weight loss as you had stopped by my diary. I'm glad that you feel that this forum is of great inspiration to you because i feel the same way. Before finding this site all I thought about was getting pregnant again which wasn't happening due to them not implanting correctly which caused miscarriages and my doc said that it was due to my weight and that if i had lost weight that maybe I would actually be able to go full term in pregnancies. I have 1 son who's 3 and he was born almost 6 weeks early and my doc that I see now says that it was probably due to being overweight to begin with. anyway, congrats on your weight loss and keep up the great work. I hope to see you again soon.

Lol even if you have no spa you have someone to demand messages from. Not that I wish it but maybe your DH will understand if/when a midlife crises occurs and his body decides to make him pay for years of indulgence.
Good job on your strong will and portion controll. You're one strong woman.

I'm obsessed with it to!! lol, whos not tho, really? And besides, if hes skinny, he'll never understand
Anyways- three walks in one day? I envy you're drive, girly! I hate walking in this town, can't really explain why tho. hm...
Have a great day tomorrow
Wow, you folks are so kind to drop by diary and leave your thoughts and wishes for me! LOL not to mention comments on my fat-challenged DH...When we were first married, I told him I was going to tie the long-handled shower/bath brush around his wrist, so when he accidentally slipped down the drain, I would find the brush and pull him back up! hee hee
Anyhoo, yes, the walks have been going well, and I did write down most of my chow this week. I rode my bike to work today (as usual) and now have a few hours prior to my weigh-in, so guess what I'll be doing? No, I mean in addition to housework! As usual, I will be going for a walk. Maybe with my Mom. She's my fave walking partner; she is such an incredible gal!
Well, thanks again for checking in! Hope you all are doing well today.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: "When did my wild oats become shredded wheat?"
*sigh* Well, weigh in did not go EXACTLY as I had hoped, since I am only down .5 of a pound! A lousy half pound! However, I must admit that weigh in was actually at 7:30 pm - who is lighter at THAT time of night? LOL So my lesson was never to go to a night meeting again! LOL Had to due to work this week, but will make alternate arrangements next time. I refuse to move my ticker until I am down at least a whole pound
In the meantime, last night after weigh in, I went out and had my orientation AT A GYM!!! I can hardly believe it. The place smelled like sweat and they were playing my fave 80s tunes. I thought I would die by the end of orientation. It is a circuit thing but you have to adjust the weights, etc.
I found it generally VERY CONFUSING and somewhat overwhelming, but the reason I am going to be going is that my Mom goes several times a week - and if SHE can do it, so can I LOL. She is in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, so she had to go through orientation several times to "get" all the stuff to do with the equipment. She is such an inspiration to me. I love her with all my heart. She is 68 years young and just this summer was the recipient of Canada's Governor General's Award for all of her work in our city! Who wouldn't be proud to have such a Mom?
So, regardless of what the scale says (or doesn't say), I am committed to continuing on with my weight loss/health gain journey, as long as it takes and as far as it takes me!
Cheers to us.

Reason: spelling
Down .5 lbs is still down. Much better than up. Besides your weight fluctuates during the day and if you are weighing in at the end of day who knows what the scale will say. You doing great and don't be discouraged.
I have one off topic comment. You screen name inspired me to dig up an old ABBA disc I haven't listened to in years. I put it in my car and it made me smile all the way to work.
Hi. Apparently I was smoking crack this morning because I posted a message to your introduction thread instead of to your diary thread.
Anyway, you walk three times per day? That's a lot of walking! I walk my dogs twice per day but those walks don't require much rigor because the dogs like to waste time and sniff everything.
Motivation, motivation, motivation. That's me giving you some or lots, however you much you need.
Have you seen "Strange Brew"? <---Canadian reference. Oh god, I love that movie. So stupid and so funny.
.5 Is something and that's better than nothing to be sure. You're right that time of day didn't help. I seem to fluctuate a lot between morning and night. Not sure when the best time to weigh really is.
I hope you have fun at the gym and that it gives you what you need. Your mom sounds really inspiring. Alzheimer's is something that terrifies me just at it's though I don't think I'd ever be able to live with it nevermind work around it enough to continue to make myself a fully healthy and functional person.
Good day, eh? LOL There is the traditional greeting I know you've all been waiting for!
To answer some comments/questions:
*So glad I reminded you of the mighty AWESOMENESS of the best band, ever!!! ABBA rox.
*Yes, I have seen Strange Brew, a few too many times, I might add. LOL Canucks are a strange breed...
*Alzheimer's (AD) is a horrifying diagnosis for anyone. Since my mom got it quite young (late 50s) I could have genetic testing done. However, my sibs and I have opted not to, as we don't really want to know. Our Mom has set such a tremendous eg. for us of how to simply keep on living and enjoying life, no matter what stage/journey you are on! We will cross bridges as we come to them.
NOW, FOR WEIGHTY ISSUES:
I have no scale, so I don't know what I weigh until my weekly weigh in. Even then, it is hard for me to believe that all 3 of their scales are truly accurate! LOL They are lucky I don't strip down to my skivvies to get weighed. I wear the lightest possible clothing for it! hee hee
I have come down with my dh's evil cold. I knew I should have made him sleep in the garage all last week! However, I did start tripling (sp?) my vit. C and Echinacea (sp?) when he got sick, so hopefully mine won't last as long! I had to work yesterday but managed one power walk on my pathetic 30 min lunch break. I feel well enough today (thanks to cold meds!) to get in one walk today, too. However, I don't believe in pushing myself when I am sick; it seems to backfire!
Thanks so much for stopping by my diary. It is such an encouragement knowing there are other folks cheering me on! I shall give you all one great big CYBER ((((((HUG!!!))))))). At least this way you will not catch my evil cold!
Hmmm...had troubles posting yesterday, hope things are tickety boo again today.
I still have my evil cold, but thank heaven for Contact C! LOL I did manage to get in some walks over the last couple of days. Tonight I work from 3-11. I surely haven't had much of an appetite these last few days, and struggle with whether I should eat or not. I have had troubles before with NOT losing weight due to not eating enough, which sounds weird, I know.
I really, really want to see that I am down one solid pound at my weigh in this Friday. I can't afford to lose motivation, as my weight loss is very much health necessary rather than just to look good (the happy side benefit ). I know I am not in a race against anyone to lose weight, but it would be so nice to say goodbye to it sooner, rather than later! At any rate, I have changed the way I eat, being much more mindful of what I eat and how much, as well as incorporating daily exercise, so I KNOW I am better off, regardless of that stubborn scale!
HI There ABBA!! I'm just dropping by for the first time, hope you don't mind. Did you mention you ride your bike to work?? WOW that's great! You have already lost a lot of weight, GOOD JOB!!! Don't get discouraged when you reach a plateau, it's just your bodies way of telling you to change things up a bit, maybe change the calories your consuming in a day, or change up the exercise routine a bit. I think your really on the right track, so stick with it!! I had a plateau for almost 7 weeks, it was up a pound, down a pound, it was so frustrating, but I stuck with it and finally it broke! It just takes time, and if you do it slowly it will stay GONE FOREVER!! ahhhhh, isn't that nice. Good luck on the rest of your week, I think you'll break that plateau, just stick with it and don't let "IT" Win. Have nice evening
