*sigh* Well, weigh in did not go EXACTLY as I had hoped, since I am only down .5 of a pound! A lousy half pound! However, I must admit that weigh in was actually at 7:30 pm - who is lighter at THAT time of night? LOL So my lesson was never to go to a night meeting again! LOL Had to due to work this week, but will make alternate arrangements next time. I refuse to move my ticker until I am down at least a whole pound

In the meantime, last night after weigh in, I went out and had my orientation AT A GYM!!! I can hardly believe it. The place smelled like sweat and they were playing my fave 80s tunes. I thought I would die by the end of orientation. It is a circuit thing but you have to adjust the weights, etc.

I found it generally VERY CONFUSING and somewhat overwhelming, but the reason I am going to be going is that my Mom goes several times a week - and if SHE can do it, so can I LOL. She is in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, so she had to go through orientation several times to "get" all the stuff to do with the equipment. She is such an inspiration to me. I love her with all my heart. She is 68 years young and just this summer was the recipient of Canada's Governor General's Award for all of her work in our city! Who wouldn't be proud to have such a Mom?

So, regardless of what the scale says (or doesn't say), I am committed to continuing on with my weight loss/health gain journey, as long as it takes and as far as it takes me!

Cheers to us.
Hun, even .5 is good ..could mean you are breaking a plateau ...
give it time ..it will go down more ..a slow weight loss ..is the best weight loss ..than it will stay off permanently...

best wishes hun
always

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!!!

Thought for the day: Pobody's nerfect.

Evil cold is still hanging on, but that didn't stop me from power walking to and from work! Good for me! I didn't want to ride my bike because it is threatening rain, and I didn't want to arrive at work with a big wet stripe up my backside! Geez, whoever decided a striped butt was cooler than a fender Please, bring back bike fenders!

*sigh* weigh in is just around the corner...

Hope your week has gone swimmingly this far!

Pear-shaped Gal's Lament

PEAR-SHAPED GAL’S LAMENT

Well I’m a lovely gal who’s shaped just like a pear
From what I see on TV, it must be pretty rare.
I’d really rather be a sexy figure-eight
With a top to match my bottom, wow that would be great!
But that won’t likely happen with my poor little size C’s
My derriere’s so ample, they’d have to be Double G’s!

I’m counting calories, exercising, drinking like a fish
So how long is it going to take until I get my wish?
I’m a wreck when pants shopping; it’s just a cruel game
‘Cuz I can’t find any that will fit THIS frame!
A tiny waist is great, but what about my thighs?
To fit up over them, I need an Uber-size!
So they finally fit my butt, but my poor waist is a swimmin’
But one day soon I know, those hips will be a trimmin’!

Pear versus apple, I think it’s all a little fruity -
I’d just like to carry less of my own sweet booty
So here’s to all the pear-shaped gals, bound by our odd shape
If all else fails, don’t lose hope - just use some Duct Tape!

You are too funny and quite good with words and comical poetry!
I write poetry too ...this is good ..its cute!

J Lo is pear shaped

I didn't know if you knew that ..but she is pear shaped ... they had all these different figures on the magazine one day ...what each one looks like ..
Eva Angelolina, Kurt Doeglasses wife, The producer of Ugly Betty.... is hourglass shaped ..she is so hot ..and I so want to be hot!~ lol there I said it ...that is my need, want, desire.. to be hot!

Hun ..you will be hot too! As we all will be!!
If you just keep trecking ..keep chugging water (I also drink tea, English Breakfast with a packet of sweet n low ) no calories ... u know

but you can do it hun
And it sucks your not near an "Lane Bryant", they actually have pants for women pear shaped ..than they have the hourglass figure and one other one ...they have one with short and stauky tooo ..even me! lol I am the one with the red coded color?
How is the pants shopping? Have you looked at any other places than the one mentioned before? You might want to venture out...
I thought I would be passed the 24s, but I won't be until I reach January or February ....so I am breaking and getting jeans tomorrow from Fashion Bug...

ttylater hun
write anytime
love yas
will check in again
always
natalie jo

btw ..cute poem!

Yeeeeehaaaaaw!

I have broken through the 188 lb plateau! Oh, I am soooooo thankful! At weigh in today, I was 186 lbs, down 2.2 this week - AND DOWN 25 LB OVER ALL! Does that rock, or what? Oh yeah Oh yeah Oh yeah...

So an XL THANK YOU to all of you who have been so kind and encouraging posting in my diary whilst I have been on Mt. Plateau! Feels good to be moving down again! Aaah, life is good, that's for sure.

I have been too nasty with my cold to get to the gym at all this week, but have kept up the power walking. However, my Mama assures me that we WILL be hitting the gym next week after our turkey feast! LOL It is so wonderful to live near family again. It's been a long and lonely 8 year absence. I realize I am very blessed to have such a fantastic fam!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF MY FELLOW Enjoy the bird, but not too much!

Hi

I have just been dipping into your diary and wanted to congratulate you on getting off your plateau.

I had two plateaus in September and know what it is like - no fun.

Well done - you did it despite battling against a cold.

I too am a PCOS lady and know just what it is like.

Best wishes
Margaret

Thanks for your kind words, ladies! We can do it!

Omega, nice to meet (?) you! How long since you were diagnosed with PCOS? May I ask how old you are? I'm 38 and was diagnosed in July, though I've had symptoms for a couple of years now. I hope that once my weight gets under control my hormones will do likewise, and I won't lose anymore hair! No one else can notice it yet, but I sure can. I just want to cry sometimes when I brush my hair. But what's a gal to do? At least wigs are easier to find now, and in so many funky styles! LOL

Best wishes on your own journey; doesn't it feel great to be down below 200?

cheers

Hey girl, congrats on the weightloss so far in total but you need to update your ticker.. haha. lol anyways, just thought i would drop by your diary. I can't believe how far either of us has come. It has been a struggle for both of us but we can do this and will do this as long as we stick together. Keep up the great work.

ABBA-

Way to go with the weight loss! I'm a little jealous of you because you're now out of the high-80s and technically in the mid-80s. I'm also incredibly happy for you! Excellent work!

Have you been back to the gym since orientation?

I love your poem. Very creative and witty. While I am not a true pear-shape, I empathize with the plight of the pear-shaped woman because I have a rather ample rear. Personally, I find the pear-shape extremely aesthetically pleasing. Alas, the Romans and Greeks must have found it pleasing too since so many of the artists from the time period rendered the femle statues in the pear-shape form.

you need to update your ticker..

OMGosh, I nearly pulled out the remainder of my hair trying to update that *&$! ticker Man, I am soooooooo nontechnical LOL Shortly I will be forced to bring in the big guns (AKA my dh) to help me change the ticker! LOL

Hey Tamara thanks for reminding me that SOME MEN in SOME TIME PERIOD have actually found the pear shape rather...well...lovely. Er...I did once have a nice-but-not-too-swift BF who told me I was VOLUMPTUOUS
Such a nice fellow, just not the sharpest knife in the drawer, if you get my drift! LOL I seem to recall he actually thought that show M*A*S*H* was about the Vietnam war! OMGosh, that is so funny. Of course, all you gals are probably too young to recall that show anyway! And I KNOW you are too young to recall that war...

Anyhoo, imagine my surprise last night when that dang Aunt Flo showed up, and at my weigh in I STILL showed a loss! Now that blew my mind, as I am very prone to water retention (among other lovely PMS attributes ).

I have not been back to the gym since orientation due to evil cold affliction, but I am sure my Mumsy will drag me out this next week, barely leaving time for our turkey and stuffing to settle! LOL

Happy Thanksgiving and I'll chat with you all again soon!

Hi Abbagirl,

I am 48. You are right - it feels wonderful to be down below 200. In a couple of pounds time I will have lost a third of my February body weight and a couple of pounds later I will have lost 100 pounds. There is plenty celebrating going on here I can tell you!!!!! It is funny - I didnt appreciate being this weight on the way up!!!! It is funny the change a different perspective gives.

My PCOS hit me back in 1985 - but I just kept accumulating symptoms and not finding out what the problem was until 10 years later.

Strange things happened with my period, my weight had gone on, the body hair thing happened (I could join a fairground sideshow - no questions asked) and I just never got pregnant when we decided that the time was right.

Several healthcare professionals told me that I was pretty much textbook PCOS and I should get my doctor to refer me for testing. He initially was very dismissive.

Eventually - he referred me and the specialist decided that I was textbook too. He had hormone tests done and an ultrasound and that was pretty much that.

This is the first time that I have got anywhere close to getting my weight under control. I have tried numerous times and failed numerous times. Walking is what is working for me this time around.

Well done for losing weight despite Aunt Flo's influence.

Take care
Margaret

Hey Margaret
I LOOOOOOVE walking... it is my favorite exercise! However, I have now joined a circuit training gym, so soon will also be doing some weights. I am nervous about this and hope it goes okay. I will be the entertainment in the gym, that's for sure; not terribly graceful! LOL

I am THRILLED that you've done such a great job with your weight loss! You have so much to look forward to as your weight continues to plummet (great word, eh) and so much to celebrate already! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY MARGARET!

Cheers and keep it up, sister!

Hi Abbagirl,

Thanks for your congratulations. I love the word plummet in connection to all our weight loss.

I joke about doing the stepcount of a professional athlete - I certainly do not look like any athlete. Walking is so nice - I spend the whole time day-dreaming.

Well done for joining a gym. I am sure that the weights will go well for you - and that the instructors will help you get all toned up. Dont worry about being entertainment or how graceful you are. The big thing is that you are out there and doing it - well done.

Take care
Margaret
