I am sorry to hear that you have been so ill. I hope that are feeling a lot better very soon. It is good that you at least know what is wrong.
Do not worry about the house, housework or anything else. They will still be there when you are better. All your weight loss buddies will be here too - when you are well enough to want to play.
Dont try and type in to the computer if it causes you pain.
Whilst you will need to eat to recover - there is the positive aspect that if you focus on having really healthy food which will best aid your recovery there is every chance that you will lose some weight with having eaten so little for a while. I hope that this is the case for you.
Take care - and a prayer for a speedy recovery is coming from England.
Love

Geez, whoever decided a striped butt was cooler than a fender Please, bring back bike fenders!
*sigh* weigh in is just around the corner...
Hope your week has gone swimmingly this far! | There are bike fenders... I cycle too. You have to buy a pair at a bike shop and have them put on or you put them on yourself. My bf bought some from online and put them on his bike. There are a few different types, some are not as good as others, all depends on what kind you get. They attach to your wheel and run along your spokes, but not attached to your spokes. I have been thinking of getting a pair ...
but ... best wishes ...You should try a good bike shop or online. If you get them from a bike shop they are more expensive, but with a little extra money, they will put them on.
best wishes hun
and Happy Sunday to you!

I find the best med besides maybe tylenol for the nasty headaches i get for my colds anymore is to exercise and drink plenty of water. well keep up the great work. see you around.

Aw. Poor thing. Please get better soon. I've heard of shingles, but I've never known anyone who got them. The evil, pain medication hoarding nurse will pay dearly, somehow. I promise.
As one of the other posters mentioned, don't worry about the state of your house. Worry about your health. Get better soon.

Rep Power: 25 | | TAMARA!!! Your ticker says you are down to 183!!! That's fantastic! Wow, you are kicking arse, lady. Good on ya! I will go to be weighed in on Friday, hope I am down in the low 180s as well. I dang well should be, with how little I've been able to eat/keep down these past two weeks! Next week should find me thoroughly back on board the WL programme THE RIGHT WAY, ie., actually eating! LOL
I think I"ve been basically feeling about 10% better every day. Yesterday marked the end of my meds and one week out of hospital. Also it was my youngest daughter's 9th b-day, so I did get dressed and even put on makeup for our b-day dinner at Red Robins, where I ate part of a chicken sandwich. Whoopdeedo. But she felt very spoilt, which is great.
This morning I did a very small walk around the neighborhood. It is so sunny I'll likely do another this aft. I have been so tired and weak I have barely been able to do any walking, but expect to return to work and my full schedule next week, so I'd better get off the couch and build up my stamina again. My hip and groin continue to hurt, but still nowhere NEAR the pain I felt that first evil week. Man, that was brutal. I would not wish it on anyone! Well, almost not anyone...hee hee I suppose there may be a few *select* individuals who could learn to embrace compassion by a little suffering...
Okay, all for now. I'll let you guys know how weigh in goes. My clothes are about 3 pounds looser, I'd say.
cheers |

Rep Power: 43 | | Sorry about all your pain lately!! I had a friend that went through shingles, apparently people who also have lupus get it too, I felt so sorry for her, she was in pain for quite awhile. I am happy to hear that you did go out to dinner and eat something, we have a Red Robin here also, they are pretty good! Actually I remember back in the 80's when I first went to one in California, I think that's where they started out, we only have ONE that I know of here in Oklahoma, go figure! I'm sure you will see some weight loss on your next weigh in, but hopefully you'll be able to eat a little more and get a little more exercise in for your next one, as we want to know your losing weight due to good eating/exercise and not from no food. Take Care of yourself sweet thing, and get better real soon, I wish you a speedy recovery!! HUGS

Glad to hear that you are on the mend and feeling a little better each day. I am sure that the weigh in will give a positive result from all the agony - as unwelcome as it has been. Keep building yourself up.
Take care
Love

Kim | Hi Kim
I have been suspicious regarding lupus for quite some time. The tests for it are woefully inadequate, but that was what my docs initially suspected prior to the PCOS diagnosis. My hair changed texture virtually overnight (from soft and straight to wiry and very wavy) and my skin color and texture changed, too. I always had a very fair, porcelain complexion, and did not even suffer from acne as a teen! I should have known I had it too good... so now my cheeks are usually quite red and I often break out. This seems strange to have occurred in my mid 30s. At any rate, shingles generally attacks when there is either very high stress or a very poor immune system; hence, my thoughts on lupus once again.
So I go for weigh in shortly with my MOm. First time in several weeks I think, due to this nasty illness. I am slowly picking up the exercise again, but I cannot believe how sore I still am. I feel very lazy not having worked in 2 whole weeks, but will aim to get in a 4 hr shift on Monday. My job simply requires me to sit, but I can't seem to even do that for too long at this point. We shall see.
Thanks for your good wishes

Rep Power: 25 | | WHOOT! WHOOT! The scale today reflected a 6 lb loss (the only good to come from shingles, I assure you)! This takes me to a loss of 31 lbs, a total of 180 lbs currently, and so much closer to my goal weight of 155. I expect that, since my loss these last 2 weeks was directly due to not eating (being stuck on IV, etc.), I may actually gain a pound or two over this next week as I resume normal, HEALTHY eating habits again. But It sure will feel great to crack the 170s when I do!!! I basically weighed 170 lb all through high school, though only 155 at my wedding when I felt so beautiful and curvy. I know many on this forum actually get down into the 120s at my height, but I would look quite emaciated and have no desire to get that low.
So YAY 4 ME!!
cheers |

You will be delighted with the weight loss. I think that the main of it will stay off. I am so pleased that you are closing in on your target weight.
Unfortunately I know that my target weight will have to be fairly low as I have a fairly small frame. It is just hard to see it under all this bulk.
I havent posted any photographs as yet. I hated having photographs taken so have not documented the weight the way that many people have. I do however have a photo taken last year and one from the year before which clearly show me as a very big person. I have no idea of my weight on those days. I also allowed a couple of photos to be taken two weeks ago. I tried to post these in my diary - but they were bigger than the 100k limit which seems to be imposed. I am not sure how I can get around this. I will give it another go. I will let you know if I manage to post a photo anywhere.
I used to do all that I could to ignore my size. Not only did I refuse whenever possible to allow my photograph to be taken - I also did not weigh myself. The first time that I weighed myself was 14th March when I weighed 20 stones 7 lbs. I had been being good for about three weeks then. I have weighed myself almost every day since then. I only know my start weight because my doctor told me what it had been when she weighed me in November last year. I cannot imagine that my weight will have reduced from that over Christmas so I take that as my start weight.
Take care
Love

It is OUTRAGEOUS how much weight you've already lost - and now you are right behind me! LOL I do NOT suggest shingles as a way to lose the weight any faster It is much too painful! I am still hurting, especially when standing/walking. It is like something exploded in my groin, and I can't hold myself up properly? My brother is a nurse, and he suggested maybe I was in so much pain early on that I constantly clenched my stomach, thus leaving me with a very pulled/strained muscle there. Could be.
At any rate, I have had a lovely day with my eldest daughter, who is turning 11 very soon but I think is going on about 14 or so! Both of my girls are sweet and delightful, and I think it is a real treasure when I get one-on-one time with them. We went "thrifting" at the consignment store, then stopped off at a posh place for lunch. I had 3 small pieces of my FAVE thin-crust pizza (3 cheese applewood pizza with goat cheese! YUMYUM) and brought the rest home for hubby.
All for now; family calls.

You are so right about the pain that you have endured not been worth it as a means of losing weight. The world would be better if no-one endured pain of that ilk. I do hope that you didnt think that I meant that your illness had been a bonus - simply that since you had been ill anyway the fact that a weight loss had come would be welcome. It would have added insult to injury had you somehow gained weight as an effect of your illness.
Since both your brother and you work in the medical profession - I suspect that your theory of a pulled muscle having increased your pain will be right.
I am pleased that you have had a lovely day with your daughter. As a PCOS lady you are very fortunate to have children.
Take care
Love
