Rep Power: 25 | | Going camping tomorrow for 2 nights!! Although it makes our life even more crazy and I haven't even totally recovered from our trip to Children's Hospital, I am really looking forward to it. We are going with 2 other families we've been friends with forever. We are pretty much novices when it comes to camping, but we do have a tent!
My bootcamp experience has helped to spur me back into my old workout routine. I sweat much more working out this way than just plain running without an incline. Today I used my stairstepper for an hour, alternating with crunches and pushups. It was GREAT! nothing like working up a good sweat.
It feels great to be back into the 150s after my scary gain up to 164 after our daughter was diagnosed. Now I just need to lose 4 more to get back to 154, where I was for the longest time. Once I am there, I will aim to get down to 150. I'm hopeful it will happen! When I did get down to 147 last summer, I was only able to stay there for a few days. It really makes me wonder about our bodies having a "set point" for our weight? Either way, I think I look pretty good and feel great.
Cheers

Rep Power: 0 | | Your weight loss so far is amazing. I bet that twenty pounds has made a huge difference...getting the 'edge' off and everything. I think its great that you are also concerned about your health as well. When your losing weight, you look and feel much much better. Good luck! |

Rep Power: 25 | | Thanks for stopping by, Mirriam!
As for camping - I drank too much wine and ate a few too many smores, but tried to offset it by doing a good amount of walking and hiking. Tomorrow I will be back to my workouts in earnest.
I am so tired now after shopping, packing, setting up, tearing down, unpacking, laundry, and cleaning up. But we had a good time, and that's why we went!
Cheers

Rep Power: 25 | | What a crazy week! The day we came home from camping was Father's Day, which meant rushing around for my own Dad and my husband. Since then I have attended 2 award nights, tomorrow is my band rehearsal, shopped for 2 b-day parties for my daughter's classmates, have one more end-of-school party plus a going away party to supervise!!! GOOD GRIEF!
But I am happy to say that, amidst all of the unpacking, camping laundry, party shopping, event attending, and trying to squeeze in 4 hours of work time per day, I HAVE STILL BEEN WORKING OUT EVERY DAY!!! Yay me! My body is already responding to the greater intensity of the workouts and things are fitting better.
All for now

Rep Power: 25 | | Hi again, long time no write!
My summer has been busy but fun so far. Yesterday I got back from taking my girls camping again. We got home at 11 am, then unpacked food and all had showers so we could get to the restaurant for my mom's b-day party. After that I came home and worked, then we went over to mom's for dessert. then I came back home and worked some more! It was a very tiring day.
so today was much easier. All I did was work, work out, work some more, go to the diabetes support group, and then take a walk with my daughter.
I continue working out hard on my treadmill and with my ball and weights 5x per week. I expect that my weight remains in the 150s, though haven't weighed myself recently. Maybe tomorrow I will!
All for now

I didn't know what enticed me to click on the journal. When I looked at one of the first few posts and saw talk about smores though, that must've been it!
Yum!
Do you camp at a campground or something else? |

I am totally sold on camping! We go to both provincial campgrounds (Fintry Provincial Park, Herald Provincial Park, Manning PP, etc.) in B.C. and private ones, most recently Cedar Falls outside of Vernon, BC. I am still in the process of accumulating equipment, and also still gaining confidence both in my own camping skills and also my ability to manage my daughter's diabetes. I am trying to stick somewhat close to hospitals (ie. less than an hour away from them) just in case. All of the activity while camping is great for her, and keeps her numbers really low!
I gained about 10 lbs after her diagnosis, and am now fighting to lose all of it. I need to find the thread where Steve was giving me caloric advice!
Cheers

Rep Power: 25 | | MY CITY IS ON FIRE!
The West side of Kelowna is burning. Over 17,000 people have already been evacuated. We aren't too worried because there is a LARGE lake separating us from that side, but my husband and I both have relatives already displaced by the evac orders. We have been in a major drought here for years, with a very large fire back in 2003 that burned over 200 homes to the ground. They aren't releasing current numbers yet for how many have burned this time, but I am pretty sure no lives have been lost.
It is such a stressful time. The air is like breathing in one giant campfire. I got caught in another city yesterday and could not make it back to town as the main highway was closed. This afternoon took the loooong way home, adding about 2.5 hours to what would have been a 1.5 hour trip. Sad to say, there has been looting at some of the evac'd locations. I hope the RCMP shoot to kill. All looters should be shot on sight, IMO.
So that's what is up with me today!

Rep Power: 25 | | Fires are dying down now, so far so good. We are in such a drought. Tonight we watched the water bombers doing their work. Not as smoky as it had been.
Counting calories these days, will find out if it has done any good next week.

Rep Power: 25 | | Evacuees back in their homes, though we are still on high fire alert. Phew! What a week!
Still working out daily and making sure to increase calories. We shall see.

Rep Power: 85 | | | Wow Janice - I wondered what was going on when I saw you talking about water bombing in FB. I guess that I missed one or two key facts.
Thank goodness you are ok. Like Steve - I hope that all those that you care for are too.
It has been one emergency after another for you recently. You are doing so well to be keeping on top of your project. Lots of people would put things on hold - but you keep on top of things and that is why you have come so far - and why your new trim figure is here to stay. |

Rep Power: 25 | | Margaret!!! How wonderful to hear from you on the forum again. Your ticker looks like you are managing to keep your incredible new figure! Great job.
As for me, thanks both to you and Steve for your encouragement regarding our fire situation. We did actually get some rain this afternoon, but we would need at least 2 inches to make a difference. Our main fire is now raging out of control, over 4,000 hectares (it has doubled since last night). Evacuations are well under say, including a couple of my favorite campgrounds. The good news is that area is not as densely populated at where the fires were at the beginning of the week; but this one is truly a beast. The terrain is making it incredibly difficult to fight, though we now have firefighters pouring in from all across Canada. There is still the lake between us and the fire (and our lake is 80 km long), so we aren't too worried for our personal safety.
At any rate, I continue with my workouts and increased calorie intake. I am very curious to see if my weigh in will reflect the changes. It was fun shopping with my daughters today - my almost 13yr old and I now wear the same size! She is close to my height, too. My waist is smaller, but her bust is bigger. Obviously I do not point any of these facts out, as I would never want her to think we are in some kind of competition. The good news is that she thinks its "cool" that we can now share clothes | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
